Jyl

This is Brix. She is 2 years old. I just took this picture of her today. This is her free stacked. I would like to hear what you all think. I would like a conformation critique on her.

 Thanks.

She has exceptional pigment which is rarely seen this good.  Very good female type.  I like her head and basic construction. Nice to see that she is NOT steep in the croup and does not have a roach back.  Her back is  very nice.  Overall, very pleasing to look at.  Can't comment on her movement from a still picture which is an important part of any conformation eval.  Her expression suggests confidence.  A bitch that looks good may not necessarily move good enough to be a podium dog.  If you want a more detailed and comprehensive conformation evaluation you can have her examined by a visiting SV judge or a breed warden, or a very experienced handler or breeder.  If you complete her basic training you could attempt to have her breed surveyed.  I myself would ask a very experienced expert GSD person to examine her first.

Whether you eventually compete in the show ring or not is less important than the fact that you have a very nice looking female with very noteworthy female type and awesome pigment rarely seen so excellent.

I forgot one thing which is quite noteworthy.  She has very thick pads and short toes, which is ideal and praiseworthy.  Having good feet like thick with noticeably thick pads is an important and most useful trait for working ability since it provides good shock absorption when jumping and gaiting and contributes to overall agility and healthy movement.

Unfortunately many American Shepherds and a fair number of West German GSDs have what is called "hair feet" that is long toes and thin pads which impedes their overall aguility and working ability and is much less attarctive.

Thanks Preston.

She is a very nice female. I do love the black sables. Here is a picture I got of her trotting from the side. The only bad thing is there is a pole that is blocking her. You can see her reach though somewhat.

She is a very nice looking female with correct proportions.  She is the type that would definitely grab my eye in a crowd.

Love her rich pigment, nice feet, correct back and solid look.  I also love her head.  Congratulations on a nice looking girl.

I think you have a pretty nice functional conformation dog on the things that can be seen. She appears to have all the structural attributes to allow her to be fast, agile, trot with endurance, and be an excellent working dog. I can't examine her temperament and drives that are also needed to allow the structural attributes convert into working attributes...but sight seen she is very nice bitch. Functional conformation is much more important to me than SV/American conformation standards. Nice dog!

Structurally wise she is everything I would look for in a female,  she has a nice, blocky DDR type head, good solid structure, nice shoulder angulation, awesome bone and tight feet.  She is not to short backed, but also not to long.  Looks very fit, athletic and well balanced.

I might be a little partial, cause she comes from my kennel.  LOL
