Jeff,

A part of me likes the fact that I live in America and can do (almost) whatever I want.  That part of me says that elected should not be able to tell me what to do.

The other part of me thinks that a mandatory spay and neuter is a good idea, IF they make it possible for people to obtain a breeder's license.  Only those that qualify and fulfill the neccessary requirements can obtain a license.  Kinda like a kennel license.  I would like to see the fees for a license at a decent rate.  I think this would  cut down on garbage breeders and dogs in the pound.

I have a problem with the undefined parts of the ordinance.  It is pretty similar to the california bill.  How do you say that you are activly showing a puppy to 15 month old dog.  what qualifies as a approved show etc.  I travel into chicago with my wife to her doctor often will bring my dogs. If for any reason they were imponded they would be spayed.

I am all for quality breeding.  I do agree that we need to work for a solution for pet overpopulation. I just don't think this as written is the solution

I read an article on this Chicago legislation, which is fully supported by that idiot, Bob Barker.  In addition, one of the Chicago aldermen was quoted as saying that this bill is "directly aimed at dogfighting" people and that's why it's needed.  Oh.my.god.  How STUPID can you be?

So these people who defy the law by DOGFIGHTING are going to now obey a mandatory spay/neuter law?  Each and every one of us needs to challenge such illogical thinking when these laws are proposed.

The manditory spay and neuter programs just do not work and there are statistics that actually show and increase in the abandoment of pets when these laws are enacted or when the dogs are picked up by animal control they are not claimed..

This will be an increased burden on taxpayers as well as on responsible pet owners.and it will not achieve its stated goal

Lets hope we do't see what it does achieve.

Chicago never learns - it comes with the mob mentality at high and low levels of goverrnment.  It has gone unchecked far too long.

The same thing we see in dog ordnances happened when Chicago enacted a ban on Gun ownership, and it's in the same vein of thinking.  Take their guns away, there will be no gun crime. Look how successful that has been, and now that law has constitutional challenges.  The hundreds of gun crime events in Chicago are all with guns that are illegal, and the only ones that have them are ...the bad guys.

The same thing applies to dog fighting - spay and neuter, and you dispose of dog fighting at the source.  It's simply moronic and yet another attempt at creating an additional revenue stream for Richard M Daley (M is for Da Mare, as in female horse - all those of you with Mares, I regret the insult).

The same mare applied his asinine logic to Aviation - the most loved airfield in the country, Meigs Field, got shut down.  The excuse was "security".  People who owned airplanes and parked them there were stranded because the cowardly mayor used federal aviation funds to shut down the field with no notice in the middle of the night.  Mind you, your usual SUV carries 2-3 times more what most general aviation airplanes can carry, but it didn't matter - no one really knew the Mare's real plan was to open up casinos to shore up his personal revenues in the end.  "Get rid of the airfield, and you get rid of a terrorist's ability to do damage so close to the city".   Mind you, my airplane at 250MPH makes it from Midway to downtown in...say...2-3 minutes? It often takes that long for a controller to see the blip on the radar, let alone do something about it.

Chicago is a great town, mostly composed of awesome midwesterners who endure this idiot for too long and don't know better than to vote him out of office.  Hopefully one day soon one too many fatty steaks will assist in disposing of his arse.

Formerly from Chicago, me....
