DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik which is German Democratic Republic which was the old East Germany. The dogs that have developed on this side of the wall are predominantly the working lines that are also associated with the Czech dogs and other less glam dogs seen today. They are very popular with the police forces and are rarely seen in the show ring.
