I would like to know your opinion on these hip xrays:
7 month old GSD bitch
Is the positioning okay? What do you think? Thank you, Cheryl

Positioning is ok.
I do not think the hips will pass OFA

IMO this is a close one and the positioning is very important. Looking the the film head-on, the left side is not as deep as the right and there may be some thickening of the neck and flattening of the head. However, the xray is not perfectly symetrical - the pelvis is tilted a bit to the right making the left side appear to be more shallow.
If this a dog you will be keeping regardless of its hip status, I'd just hold off and do her again in 6 months or so. If you are thinking about placing her if the hips aren't normal, then I'd probably have her done again with a tranquilizer and make sure the knees are on the film. I wouldn't want to say she won't pass OFA, she very well may get a prelim fair or good with a better xray.

Personally, I don't think she will pass OFA either.

Thank you everyone for your comments. You were right on with my other two xrays. I appreciate your help.

IMO they will pass with a fair - the sockets should be deeper. Necks appear thickened but could be the picture quality (poor). Positioning IMO is reasonably straight.
