hi,

Recently my bitch came into season which for the past 4 years has been nothing to worry about but this time she hasn't come out of it!!!! it's been nearly 2and a half months and still when she gets excited especially bleeds quite heavily... Is this something to worry about or will she be alright in time?? She has no behaviour change or anything like that.. Still eating well and stuff just seeing could anyone help on this one!!!

thanks.

This is not normal and the bitch should see a vet.

She needs to see a vet.... I wouldn't consider this normal at all.....she needs to be checked for vaginal infection, urinary tract infection and if neither of those yield anything... I would have her checked for clotting disorders such as von willebrands or hemophilia A..

I would also suggest you don't waste any more time and I'd get her looked at!

thanks for the replies, really helped.... in turn i rang my vet straight away to see could i get her in today. He said that this is no emergency because the bitch is still quite young but if was a say (7-8) year old could be fatal. This sent alarm bells ringing surely if fatal at 7 can still be harmful at 4 i was confused!!! The bleeding seems to have eased the past week or so but i have her booked in for tommorow so hope all is well! Having seen the replies im quite worried now.

Thanks anyways.

It could be something fairly harmless, like an ovarian cyst, but do get her checked out and let us know.
