First let me thank you all for your suggestions and kind words.

We picked up Boudica from the emergency vet and took her to our vet this morning. She was her old self when she saw us,  ran right up to us, jumped up on a waiting room chair to give kisses. Apparently they also got her to eat around 3am. Chewed out her catheter at 6am. By the time we got to our own vet the excitement had worn off and she was quite tired. She is still a touch wobbly as well.

The consensus between at least 3 of the 4 vets that have seen her is that it appears to be toxin related. I have fluid packs to give her subcutaneously and she'll go back in on Monday to be re-checked. She also has some amoxicillin, her white blood cells were also low. We are still very concerned but it appears for now she out of the woods.

I'm glad you took her to the vet shortly after you posted last night. Keep a close watch on her over the weekend and don't wait to get her to the vet if she gets worse. I hope and will pray that this doesn't happen.

Why was she on Tylan for 10 days. That is enough to throw any thing in to a messed up digestion system reaction , I would think and now Amoxicillan. What are they treating with so much antibiotic. I feel you need to get major probiotics into this pup. Many here can give you the name they use and also start a little yogurt, the good kind into her, a little at a time.

Glad she is bouncing again. But What is all the antibiotics for?

The tylan was prescribed to her last week, she had loose stool and her test came back negative, I made a post recently entitled "food suggestions?" because we were trying to resolve the problem. The vet said it is safe to still keep her on it for now. He game her the amoxy because her white blood cells are low. And I have been giving her yogurt...except she hasn't eaten anything for nearly 3 days before all this happened. I offered her a bit of pumpkin on a spoon when we got home and she wolfed it down, that made me really happy.

sam- I gave her a bit of time to bounce back a bit after the seizure and while I waiting (for a short time!) I was making phone calls, researching, and asking around here. It did not take long to realize her reaction was cause for major concern.  I would not take any chances with any of our dogs. I posted minutes after it happened and left quickly thereafter.

She is right here at our feet, where we can watch her carefully. Poor little muffin is wiped out. I am still baffled, the insecticide seems far fetched, I certainly did not spray it at her and I cleaned my floor thouroughly after I used it. It's possible, certainly, but I feel like I am grasping at straws here. Many times over the years have my dogs gotten underfoot while we are spraying ourselved, sneezing, walked off, and been perfectly fine. The only time she is ever alone she is in her crate. One other thought is she likes to go under our deck and lick at the standing water down there, I have shooed her out of there constantly this week. Going to crawl under there later and see if there is anything suspicious looking down there.

A strange coincidence...a co-worker whose schipperke suffers from mild seizures very rarely also suffered one last night. We both bring our dogs to work with us.

Companies that clean your office may be mopping the floors with major disenfectants that you are not aware of. Then your dogs lick their feet many times a day and their bottoms are on the floor also. Many a pup will sit and lick a cool floor , dont know why but maybe the clorox or the disenfectant at your work place is the culprit.

Maybe there are pesticides being used at work! Does your building have cockroaches or mice, perhaps?

I think you may be confused about what the amoxicillan is for. Amoxicillan is an antibiotic and the white cells, the infection fighters in the body will be elevated in blood work, not low. If they are low, that is a completely different path and potential problem.

I would be curious to know what the insecticide was and whether it is a commercial spray product for humans. IF so, it is highly unlikely that she could have gotten enough exposure to cause a seizure or other problem. The fact that she has been ill with loose stool is about something and it may be parasitic or bacterial or viral as yet undiscovered. When a dog is not eating and digesting properly, of course, body chemistry gets out of whack. How old is this pup? With young pups it does not take much to get body chemistry so out of whack that a seizure would result. The fact that she had a normal temp is also suggestive of no really serious infection going on, but I would continue to pursue the parasite issue. Also, how much tylan powder are you giving her and what else were you giving her. Do you take very careful measures to NOT get the tylan on you or in the environment? Have you ever read about this drug?

I am glad she is doing better. The hydration and electrolyte balance is important.

Cleaning supplies....

I used to buy cheap stuff at the local discount store to use on my floors....till I found out it was formaldehyde(SP?)....yuck....I was "embalming" my floors.....YUK....

I went back to bleach.....but I have to be careful with that, as I tend to attempt "suicide by bleach" sometimes.....I am a cleanliness fanatic, and mop my floors twice daily, especially the dog room.

My yard(I live in a townhouse), is concrete and deck mostly....I powerwash it 2 times per week.....with bleach.......

I tried using vinigar....but didn't "feel" like that got things "clean".

Just wondering - was she treated for fleas recently? Wear a flea collar? Kennel her with a dog that wears one ? At any rate, glad to hear she's doing well for you.
