Looks like a coat change to me...not stripes.

Your best bet is to get him/her to a vet.

My sable pup went through that as well.  It looks like a coat change to me.

Take a look at this thread, and the bottom photo shows some striping.

That is NOT hair loss.

Sounds like    a  Bitch stripe or the  Skunk strip  as we call it in Texas.

I cant see to much from the picture but before you panic you must understand that a puppy will change a lot in his first year of life.It might very well be something thats totally normal.

When a puppy starts losing his baby coat at around 4 months of age, the new coarser more adult coat starts growing in on the back along the spine.  In an agouti/sable puppy, this can be really obvious or odd looking because this is when a sable goes from the dirty "peed on" gellowish gray washed out color of the young puppy, to developing the rich black tipping more like he will have as an adult.  It can also look strange when a black and tan puppy's new coat happens to be wavy.  A puppy with a wavy adult coat coming in and puppy fluff everywhere but his spine, can look rather weird to those not used to the way GSD coats change as a puppy grows.
