For those of you that have your private fenced in kennel for your dog, where did you get the fence? What kind of material did you use? Thanks for your help.

This is where I got my kennel system. I wanted indoor/outdoor runs for the garage at my new house. This is pictures when it was still under construction, but they have worked out wonderfully. The whole property is fenced, but this is where they stay while I am at work. I also use the slider doors to lock them in at night to keep them from barking at critters coming thru the yard. This style is only 5 ft tall, and so far no one has even tried to jump out or climb them. My smallest dog, can walk right thru them, as can small pups. I bought a different type for the puppy area. I might have one litter a year, but when I do I want it good for them. They have the whole length of the garage, that is deck, plus a small lawn area and a 5x10 foot kennel inside that I can lock them in at night.
I also installed misters around the two sides of the garage where the kennels are to keep it cool and just put a swamp cooler in the garage. It gets really hot where I live.
This might be a little more than your looking for, but maybe it will give you some ideas. The wood decks are wonderful. They have more give than cement and do not cause sores or callouses.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
Good luck.

Thanks it looks good. I am still considering making my own, I just need to run to a HD and see what would cost me to make one vs. buying one.

Those are nice Justk9s, I really like that set up. Is that gravel underneath the flooring. I was at a friends a couple of weeks ago and he had some nice kennels on the same flooring but he also had misters on each kennel and it was soo cool standing by them. He said it made the temp for the dogs at least 25 degrees cooler. In Texas that makes a huge difference, almost like sitting in front of the air condition. I am going to hang on to both of those links, I just might need to order some when we move out to our property.

There is pea gravel under the deck, my dogs do not normally potty in their runs, but if they do I scoop the dog dirt and hose everything down, The pea gravel helps filter what I end up hosing down. The deck also allows airflow underneath, and I think that helps them stay cool too and keeps the smell to a minimum.
I purchased the misters at Walmart in the garden section, they require very little water and are worth their weight in gold as far as battling the heat. They work really well under a roof or shade tarp.

Priefert kennels are very nice.Although expensive. You can move them and add on to them giving the individual more room. I gave mine to someone that needed them when I built an acre of chain link 6 ft high for my dogs with some cross fencing.Just K9s throw under your deck a bit of lime.I have worked at Wally world for 15 yrs..If there is air flowing behind the mister..Its kind of like what they do in australia to keep cool.Hasnt caught on here yet.Any time there is a breeze whether fan or nature..If anytype of water the breeze goes through..cools the temp.I noticed in the pictures there were no kiddy pools. They cool themselves through their feet...mostly.

Rainhaus,
Thanks for the advice. Where the fan is in the window there is now a swamp cooler, on the opposite side as the kennels and it will create a nice breeze in their doorways. They do not have swimming pools in their runs, but they do have two of them in the play yard. We just bought this place in January, so we have gotten a lot done since then, but I still have more a lot more plans for their yard, so thank you for any more ideas. I will definitely try the Lime, I worked on a dairy as a kid and we used tons of Lime.. That is a great idea.
Thankfully the dogs are not locked up every day while I am at work, My Mom is getting ready to retire and she lives with me and when she has her days off, the dogs can also be loose, her days off flexuate, so they sometimes spend no time at all in their runs. but they do hang out under the awning where the misters make it cooler and damp. Sometimes I have her leave their run doors open and they will go in and hang out on the deck with the breeze, and under the misters. They really have it made.. It can be 110 outside and they dont even pant. Plus the indoor part is cement, which seems to stay pretty cool also.
This is a great thread if more people with share their ideas. Some people have some pretty nifty setups..

Be careful if you are getting your chain link at a hardware store. Some of that stuff is paper thin and a strong dog can tear clean through it. You want the really good heavy duty stuff.

I have the preifert kennels as well and I don't think they are expensive at all. I paid $475 tax and delivery included for my 5x10 kennel. These are super easy put up take down, the spacing is perfect so the dogs can not get their teeth in between and pull causing damage to K9s. I did have a chain link (well stil do) for Sasha in the garage, but she realized if she pulls with her teeth, she can bend in the gate side and it opens, not sure where she was going in the garage, but hanging out I guess. She gashed the inside of her k9s, so now she has to stay in her outdoor kennel even when its raining.
I guess if you are doing a 10x10 that may seem expensive at $840, but that is a lot of room for a dog to sleep in during the day. My pups live in the house when I am home.
I would suggest that EVERYONE have a top on their kennel. If you read the very sad post about Car, the dog that got out of his kennel and was hit by a car, and had to be put down, you can understand why a top is crucial! I am not sure that is what happened with Car, she just said he got out of his kennel, but as you can imagine, all it takes is one mistake or thinking your dog will never climb out and then you have a terrbile accident. In my opinion it is just not worth the what if. I know I can leave Jager in his kennel for 12 hours if I HAD to and he might be mad when I get home, but he is still going to be there.
