In reply to MICKY D,  about 'don't mention soundness & show horses in the same  sentance', perhaps the people in the USA have a lot to answer for re exaggerations in animals & their breeding, you only have to look at numerous dog breeds & then compare to the type the rest of the world breed & in many instances work, to see how alot of american dogs have been bred to extremes, be it in conformation, excessive coat etc. etc. as for the horses, the gaited breeds have been specificaly bred to perform at certain gaits to provide a smooth ride, yes bringing in certain exaggerations, but at least the exaggerations are for a purpose, unlike those within the dog breeds, and I would go on to say that most show horses ARE VERY sound, even the gaited breeds, they may have more angles, longer pasterns etc, but their movement is straight , unlike alot of GSD's with excessive angles,who look as if they could knit a jumper with their hind legs when moving !!

Elkoor, the poor thing looks like it got smacked on the butt and hasn't recovered yet.  I am old fashioned and like the strong straight backed working dogs. But that is only my opinion and my love.   Please don't hold his less than stellar stack against him, my fault, some day I will get this right

I notice 'vom Haus Milesevac' produces a lot of extreme roaches. This dog has been for sale on the data base for a long time, and the one you linked to is linebred on Milesevac dogs:

"look like they could knit a jumper with their hind legs..." OMG, Singe, I nearly splurted my coffee on the screen when I read that!  TOOO FUNNY!  (And, unfortunately, too true!)

Mindhunt and Sunsilver, I feel that add should read "free to good home". If it would be one of my dogs I always would wonder if he had a belly ache. Having a farming background it reminds me a lot of a serious navel infection in calves.....Ouchh.

Seems the breeder is breeding on the names in the pedigree instead of correctness.

Breeding for exaggeration can cause any species to break down.  You cannot tell me that those pitiful Paso Finos, which  move across a ring in twice the time it takes a Quarter horse to trot across the same distance, are sound.

Breeding for exaggeration is for human convenience, whether for ribbons or so some rider doesn't have to bounce.
