What you need is the Rabies vaccination up to date.(if he is old enough) You don't need anything else..

Are you purchasing him? You might need proof of that. Best to look it up on the website of the Government.

I would get an international health certificate. And I don't think you can take dog food back into the US from Canada. We had to throw ours out at the border when I went to Nationals in Toranto in 07. JMHO.

I had a family come here from Canada and get a pup from me. They needed a health certificate, proof of purchase, proof of shot's including rabies vac, as well as the registration paper's.

I have pass many many times the US border with dogs (sometime a whole litter) all they ever asked me is the vaccination certificate..if you have your purchase papers it should be fine..
A lot of mix dogs pass the border everyday..they don't need registration papers..

My mother took an eight week old puppy back to Canada with her and she didn't have a problem. My older dogs need a rabies cerificate and I show their licence with proof of address.

I have often been asked whether I was brining anything back with me from Canada, so do be prepared with bill of sale, NO DOG FOOD from Canada, proof of vaccs and an international health certificate. What would you do otherwise, lie? THAT can have ugly consequences and for no good reason. Get the paperwork. If they don't ask, fine. You just wasted a few bucks. If you don't have it and they ask...
