what would you say is the best advice you were told.

for me, not in any order:

color (of the dog) wont get you any points

schutzhund is not for every dog

training should be black and white,  gray only leads to confusion

1.  You must build a solid foundation in training, otherwise it is the same as a house, without a solid foundation it falls.

2.  DON'TLOOKATMELOOKATYOURDOG!!

You don't need a trainer for your dog, you can do it yourself.  Schutzhund is just being dedicated and working hard-- you can do it if you want to. (Our training director).

Maintain consistency at all times: same movement, same voice, same sequence.  (Just about everyone in my club!)

Tracking is a natural function for your dog, and a lot of interaction with you during tracking interferes with that function.  If she did not have a human being to feed her, how would she find food? (Jim Elder)

"The pole NEVER moves."

"The rabbit never jumps into the mouth of the wolf."

"It's not about what your dog can do or cannot do, it is about the bond you are building with your dog while you learn what  your dog can do and cannot do."

"if you are not happy out there training, your dog won't be happy out there training."

"smile more to your dog."

"You need a 100 tracks before you trial"

Watch out for the longline!  (I didn't and ended up with my butt in the mud)

Teach focus and everything else will come easier.

Getting up at 4 am to track will not kill you.
