I have a small grinder  but it is just not  doing the job !! So I am thinking of buying a higher end grinder  for beef    some in part with fat , all kinds of organ meat  including green tripe  and it would be awesome if I could grind the chicken backs too .

I know alot feed raw  and alot of you  grind their meats    so I am seeking consumer advice  on grinders :)

Thanks in advance

Pia

There is a lady near Austin that has made raw formula for years and sells it to all the Schutzhund people in clubs all the way to Houston.   Don't have her name  but she does it in her special room off her garage and has several grinders.

She could be the one to really tell you what size. I will find out her name   and post it by the week end or maybe someone reading here will know how to contact her.

Brand names and where to order the best for dogs bones and meats would be good to know.

There is a place in GA called Naturmix USA 1-800-825-1669 they did sell the grinders and were very reasonably priced. They also grind raw meats.

Pia,

The best grinders can be found at Cabelas. I will send you the link in email, as for some reason I cannot post it here.

I have a Kitchen Aid mixer, one of the bigger ones, with a grinder attachment.  I've been making all my own ground burger for years, very little slows it down.  I don't know how it would do on chicken backs as I've never tried it.  I was looking at some of the bigger meat grinders through Cabela's also.  Once things settle here I may get one, or the mondo jumbo newer Kitchen Aid.

Cabela's meat grinder search results:

I have been using a Tasin (TS-108). They are a little over $100 and found them on ebay thru the Jerky Shop or something like that. I grind the whole stewing chicken. I have ground elk meat and beef fat also to make burger for us. Oh, and I once did grind turkey, it went thru those bones as well. I like it because it holds up well for the price, just grabs the whole chicken leg, (other pieces need to be given a little shove with the plunger) and is light weight. I don't have room on my counter to just leave a large, heavy grinder out.
