My beautiful 11-year-old black GSD appeared to be dying last week, but on Saturday was saved by surgery for Pyometra. I brought her home on Monday (she's a bit nervy and hates to be away from home) and she was happy, tail wagging, smiling, even eating, and doing tricks for treats that concealed her meds (for pain and antibiotics), resting very comfortably. Last night she awoke snuffling, and there was blood on her bedding. At lunch I realized she was bleeding from the nose and I took her back to vet. It was about a tablespoon or so, I guess. All the blood tests were normal, her clotting was good, heart and lungs sounded good, temperature normal, etc. Vet sent out a blood sample for thyroid testing.

So after a long and stressful day at the vet we're home, she ate pretty well (better than for about a week) and has good energy.

The vet said I could take her to an internist to check for tumors, but I thought she could not stand any more poking and prodding.

I've read all the other posts here and I wonder if anyone has any advice for me. I love my dog (and her beautiful twin sister) more than I can tell you. I want her to be happy.

Thanks in advance,

JKC (and Hathy and Ishy)

If she had a NT it would be normal to have some nosebleed, or at least not unexpected.

Thanks for that, gsdlvr2. I've never seen or known a dog with a nosebleed before, so I was a little shocked.
