I agree with pretty much all Spike has written re  the training of dogs for Schutzhund  qualifications, for me to go to a club for specialist training I would have to give up a full day (not possible with my animal commitments at home )also travel approx; 180 mile round trip , add to that fuel costs, training fees, loss of earnings due to day away( I am self-employed), etc etc & it makes for a very costly day.I totally admire those that are committed enough & able to go to a club for regular training & also are lucky enough to have helpers outside of the club to lend a hand, I  like a lot of people haven't & I do feel that IF the Seiger show follows exactly the German seiger format we will see a drop in entries  due simply to the fact that the show has become elitist.

As an option perhaps a class with the full tests  could be added, but as a seperate class, or why not invite dogs & owners to give a non competitive demonstration , I'm sure this would be a real crowd pleaser & give owners a chance to show off their dogs skills, but keep the rest of the format pretty much as it is thus enabling anyone with a decent GSD to be able to enter.

I wish the very best of luck to those of you who do train your dogs for Schutzhund, IF I had a club nearer I would be amoungst your numbers

As far as I am aware, the British Sieger is the same as last year and will continue to be, the only difference that they have added 2 extra classes for dogs with schh and koerung qualifications. This will not exclude anyone form entering this year or in future.  A big complaint from exhibitors has been that they felt unqualified adults would not be placed as highly as qualified ones in the open classes, with the addition of the working classes this will no longer be a problem and should be seen as an improvement to the show. As it stands IT IS NOT NECESSARY to have any  schh qualification to enter at the British Sieger, there are classes for everyone.  It is a once a year show with a different format to our other shows, there are no CC,s on offer or anything like that, a fun show for everyone to enjoy whether exhibiting or spectating.

Lets hope the Sieger show committee remembered to order the sunshine!! lol
