Some people want to sell their super prospects but only to the suitable client, otherwise they will keep him/her for their breeding program...

can someone explain this?  it sounds stupid to me...

Niko's,

Mostly I think what your getting at is some breeder's want to sell their pup's to people who will train and title them, or do it themselve's.  Or they want to sell without breeding right's to protect their bloodline's.

Everyone has there way's and reason's Niko's.

I'm sure you'll get the answer your looking for in time.

I think they keep the ones most valuable in standard. Because they can show or breed the best the

have bringing more value to their kennel and breeding program. If any top picks are sold there are usually

to homes that will show and help the breeder bring more clients to buy and show.

If a breeder is serious to his name the top picks always stay there or reputable show homes.

Sometimes there will be contracts for special picks.

Well perhaps they dont want to part with a good breeding or training prospect to someone who is going to polute the bloodlines..nothing stupid about it.  Sometimes picks end up having to be parted with for other then dog related life reasons. . Some dogs are started and imprinted with specific goals in mind . For breeders there is nothing stupid about being selective in what type of enviorment you feel a good pup or dog should be placed in.

I feel it's the same when selling pups. I have turned down a lot of people to find the right home for my pups, nothing wrong with that right? I feel it's the same with super prospects as well. You wouldn't want a very good dog to go to a home where they will do nothing with this dog would you? Just to have the dog as a trophy on a shelf nothing more? JMHO

Yes, and I should have said  nothing wrong with breeders trying to be selective placing *any* pup. I believe the term *pick* may be over used or misunderstood. Usually in a good breeding there are slight differences regarding temperment. not big whopping gaps as far as suitability in various tasks. A pick is just usually the pup a breeders has selected for personal reasons to stick around and watch and help develop and/or for their own likeing. It doesnt mean it is the one that will automatically turn out to be the best physically or in training. For heavens sakes.... have no breeders ever parted with some nice pups and then a few years later droool at the outcome so wishing they still had claim to the fine specimen (G)... Well you can not keep them all. Its not fair to merely house animals. Especially the herding breeds IMO. BUT that may be another subject!

good dogs are sold all the time.if the price is right evry dog is for sale.only naive and inexperience think breeders do not sell their good dogs.good dogs are born every day and there are only few so called working homes around for these dogs to go to but they are sold and most of them do go to pet homes.any one tells you otherwise they are lieing.have a nice one.
