hi alfie

we need more information than that please

what are you feeding him and how much ?

how much does he really weigh ?

what lines is he?

is he free from parasites?

if he weighs 6 stone you have got a mastiff cross lol

Dogs will not starve themselves. If they do not eat, generally it is because they are not hungry and you are feeding too much. Rarely, a dog will not eat because it does not like the food it is being fed, and sometimes a dog does not eat when it does not feel well.

Most people keep their GSDs and other dogs too, way, way too heavy. The dog should be lean. If you are not sure what that means, let us know and I can tell you more.

alfie again not enough info

if he weighs 6 1/2 stone (41.2 kg) he is far too heavy at 9 months

answer the questions im my previous post please

chappie is not the worst food but certainly not the best try a good quality dry food such as burns or arden grange

also can you post a picture please

So at 90lbs, he already weight what a large adult male would weigh.  And males are usually older than 2 before they completely fill out.

Maybe you should post a picture, perhaps he IS way oversized and that weight is not overweight on his frame.  Most veterinarians do not know when a dog is the right weight - I think they are so used to seeing overweight dogs that when they see normal ones [ and a puppy that age should be thin] they see the dog as underweight.

hi his food has been changed from royal canin to chappie, from advice from our vet ,the vet has said he will be a big dog along with the the breeder who pointed out when we got him that his parents were very big ,he has no parasites,he is certainly not overweight

OK you say he isn't over weight but he is 9 mths old and already 41.2 kg that is huge and IMO worrying                                    as Nancy said that is the weight of a large adult male.

why has your vet recommended chappie?? they don't usually suggest chappie unless their is a digestion issue.

i would give him a starve day and then give one small meal the following day then back to his usual routine on the third day.

please try to post a few pics so we can have a look at him

thanks

If you can feel the ribs with the palm of your hands then your dog is ok. If you cannot feel the ribs then your dog is FAT

cheers
