My carpet cleaner just died and I need to go purchase a new one (the old one was 12 years old bought before we had dogs).  I was just wondering if anyone had a favorite.  You can sent me a post since this isn't really a doggie thread so I don't want to take up valuable space........I appreciate any posts/advice/personal experience, that can help me get a doggie proof one that cleans carpets well.  Thanks

That's very dog related!

I got a big shop vac for the house.  My next step is removing all the carpets and putting in something the dirt and hair can't hide in.........

Animules....... I agree! Its been years and years since I've had any type of carpeting in our home.....Actually the house we are in now was purchase just for the dogs, three level not one bit of carpet. It was literally built around the dogs. Yeah its always about the dogs....   Shop vac is the way to go! They have millions of attachments for any type of flooring or job for that matter! (Including carpet beaters) Its very powerful and NEVER gets clogged unless I happen to vacuum up a dog or baby toy  The nicest part about using a shop vac, is the fact that the entire thing can be taken apart and cleaned as needed. You can't do that with any regular vacuum!   I stopped wasting money trying and breaking vacuums, after spending near $500.00 for that Dyson Animal - which didn't impress me at all - ended up given it away since it sat in a closet for months. I believe the total cost of my shop vac with all the extra filters, and attachments ran me about $150.00 and well worth every penny.

I have a Rainbow and It is the only way to go...Safe as your whole house is protected from germs, mites , dust particles and hair flying thru the air as it all gets deposited in the water system...There are many other uses for the Rainbow, cleaning and medical and personal needs can be met by this fabulous machine...My first one is 29 years old and I have a second one , which is 5 years old and  they keep my house clean and smelling fresh and fragrant..

Yellow, can you use the rainbow as a carpet cleaner also, not just a sweeper?
