Right now I am buying Rolled Barley at the cost of $25 per 25 lb - Human Grade.  I found out I can get a 50 lb bag at the Feed store at the cost of $15 - but it is Animal Grade...

What is the difference?? (besides the cost!!)  I did ask this at the store but they could not give me an answer...

One of the things that can make a grain animal grade is that it is genteically modified. Some call it "Frankenfood". They are injecting bug killers into the genetic make up of the grain (Starlink corn  for example) This has been causing many severe reactions in people and  some of these grains are being banned from the human food chain. The powers that be have decided its ok for animal feed though.  Mold levels and things like that also can be a factor.

Hope that helps you.

I thought it would be "clean" grains vs grains that spilled out during processing and possibly "swept up" from making the human grade.  I tried researching and found not much that I could comprehend.  It all seems very complicated.  But I do get what you're saying about the mold content and I also saw a lot about insect "infection".  Guess I'll continue getting the same I have been.  The price of the feed store sure was appealing but I I'll pass....  to many variables that could cause other issues.
