VomHausCander

This is my new dog Jasko Von Haus Paris. He is the son of VA Nando vom Gollerweiher. His dam is V Kibo-Storm vom Adelplatz. I recently purchased him and would love opinions from those with more experience ( as far as conformation goes). We adore his personality. We DO realize he is not as dark (the black) as he could be. His red is very deep though. This picture was taken when he was about 19 months a few months ago. Any opinions would be great. He has an awesome personality and loves to work. Thanks so much!

VHC, no photo can tell the true essence of the dog's conformation.  Why even ask here?  If you really want to know the dog's true potential, have him examined by a breed warden or an FCI or SV judge, or at a minimum a very experienced and successful professional breeder or handler.   Actually, unless you have had a falling out with the breeder it is quite disrespectful of you to post this dog's photo here and ask for an opinion on conformation.

You should discuss the dog with the breeder and then perhaps have him evaluated by someone who is very honest and professional with many years experience winning in the FCI/SV showring as a breeder handler and/or judge or breed warden. Stuff like this would prevent many from ever being willing to sell you a quality GSD in the future.

The photo is very poor as I'm sure you realize, the ground isn't level etc.   One could point out a couple potential small issues such as perhaps being a bit out of coat, and/or an only slightly high tailset (no big deal).  Sure, the pigment could be a bit richer, but it is adequate and could improve with age.  The dog looks good and appears to have good male type and appears to have a lot of good traits.  But of course inspection in person or on a very long video from all sides moving and walking would be essential if one didn't see him in person.  If he has good sidegait off lead, is good coming and going and has good and correct temperament he should breed survey.  Then if he passes all that he could obtain a V rating.  This looks  to me to be a quality bred FCI/SV zuchtschau line GSD.

Why would you serve up a quality GSD like this to be possibly disrespected or ridiculed.  A more appropriate post would be something:  Here is our new GSD.  We really like his temperament and the way he looks.  And then let folks compliment his good points.  If you are serious about this dog, then you better have him evaluated soon and start your Sch and showring training and be willing to have a great deal of professional help.

By the way I noticed the dog already has a female puppy out of him.  Her photo does not suggest good conformation potential.  I hope that you have Jasko's hips and elbows xrayed before you breed him anymore.  No reputable breeder would use him without xray proven clean hips and elbows and a complete blood screening and physical exam by a vet.  Most nowadays wouldn't use him unless he breed surveys too, and some would never use him unless he attained a high SG rating or even a V rating.

wow i dont think i have ever been mad about a post that wasnt even directed towards me. They just asked for an opinion!!You didnt have to burn the damn post at the stake!! People ask fr opinions on there dogs all the time. Not everyone has the oppurtunity to show there dog to someone who is a MASTER SV JUDGE OR 30 YEAR BREEDER! There is almost zero breeders were I am  so if i ask for an opinion will you tell me that im an idiot and should jump off a bridge with my mut!! WOW

smartguy, I never told the poster he was an idiot or should jump off a bridge (you projected that here).. Try not to get hysterical here and exaggerate. But actually I don't care if you get mad.  It's okay.  IMO this is a matter of respect to the dog and the the breeder the dog was acquired from.  Conformation or potential conformation is not going to be validly evaluated by viewing a single photo.  A better solution would be to post a collection of photos and a video of the dog moving from the side and walking and then asking folks if they thought the dog had potential to be competitive in the FCI/SV showring. Only a novice would ever ask this type of question and thus that person in any case would have to deal with professional handlers and trainers if they ever wanted the dog to compete and place.  Certainly one who knows so little about confirmation, joint health, etc. should not be breeding GSDs.
