I read an advertisement recently about puppies that were partially Russian bred, and the claim that the Russians still bred for hardness in their dogs..I thought they meant even in their showline dogs? which if true, would be very interesting to many. I'm just curious..anyone know anything about GSDs in Russia? I would love to hear about it.
On a side note, we have a direct flight out of Anchorage to Russia with Vladivostok Air, but only in the summer. It's rather pricey. Veronica

Baby Eagle, you asked for it---- I'm going to be pestering you to translate Russian! LOL. I've had a very nice lady from the Ukraine write me about her dogs, who go to the International FCI trials. She is training a sibling to my Vinetta--- V Vranjo von Karthago, IPO3, KKL1, A2, FCI World Championships competitor 2007. There are people out there who know about Russian dogs and people training in Schutzhund there, but apparently none who want to talk about it thus far on this forum.

I looked at a couple adds a while back( year or 2) nice dogs, from Russia and I'll sheepishly addmit I didn't ask questions after I saw Russia. I didn't want to deal with shipping and no one talks of buying good dogs from there. Seemed an (extra) risk if you know what I mean? Russia is huge (like the US) odds on finding another person that has seen that kennela and dogs would be really small. I don't see myself flying over to pick out my pup either.
My thoughts where that they would breed for hard dogs and dogs that work, they still use them like crazy over there. I don't see pets being a real priority in that area.

I'm closer to Russia than I am to the Lower 48 states. It is not such a big deal for someone from Alaska to fly over there, and so I can consider the possibilities more freely. My husband told me yesterday that we actually have three flights from Anchorage to Russia. My curiousity is peaked about what they have going on over there. Veronica
