I read on another website this guy was selling pit bulls and he said in the ad that "breeder would not give papers so he went with another registration like APR or something"
Question ---what prevents someone from taking a Limited registration on a puppy and going to another register and getting full registration?
Is there a way for a breeder to prevent this from happening to one of their puppies
Thanks for you time

I understand that but what prevents a person from going to say APR or some other register and getting full registration on a puppy that the breedeer sold for limited registration

they can go to CKC Continental kennel club and get papers on anything but they would have to be really lame to do that and there would be red flags about them that would be blatant if they were the type that was going to do that...

I didn't know if anyone has had this happen to them it was something that I read and I didn't even know it was possible, I thought that once limited then always limited. I was shocked that people would/could do it and people would buy dogs from them.

CKC is the hallmark of poor quality thats what all the pet stores and backyard breeders use ,its just a fake registry thats a P.O. box..people use it as a way to sell to uneducated buyers ,it sort of came about after AKC started clamping down on puppy mills so they all said to hell with AKC our buyers are dumb we can give them any ol''papers'' sadly it worked!

Yes, I've heard of that type of registry for bulldogs.
And I have wondered this exact same question in the past.
And really, I don't know how a breeder could keep such from happening. Granted, the person who does this in another registry (CKC, for example-Continental Kennel Club) would NOT bring the $ your AKC pups would. But they'd still be able to sell pups with some sort of papers, and have those bloodlines. They just couldn't refer to the breeder from whom they got the dog or else then the breeder would know what was going on and complain. But really, once a dog leaves your place, even if sold on an AKC limited registration, the dog could still be bred.
Maybe if pups/dogs were sold with limited registration on a mandatory spay/neuter contract? And then some people(buyers) just wouldn't go for a mandatory spay/neuter. Some wouldn't care, but some would. Even if they have no intentions on breeding the dog.

The best thing i can think of is having the mandatory spay/neuter contract and holding the registration papers until a certificate or receipt is given to the breeder, even if the paper are limited. that would mostly get people with bad intentions away from your pups.

well another reason was I sold a puppy and I kept her papers until puppy was spayed and this guy sold her with breeding right to a lady without given me first rights or even telling me till a week after he already sold her. Well long story short "I said NO that new owner could not have breeding right and go figure she didn't want her if she couldn't breed her", He would not send her back to me or even meet me half way so I went and got her I put 1000 miles on my car but I got her back and she is fine, thank god because she came into heat 2 days later. Here is a picture of her she is 1 year old and she turned out nice I think.

Thats great, holding her papers seem to have saved your dog from a loveless breeding home and you got her back. Holding papers may not always, but in most cases it greatly reduces dogs going into bad situations. Shes a lovely dog!
I always have in my contracts that the buyer must notify the seller (me) if he or she is placing the dog, and the seller will have the first right to keep/place the dog in a good home. Absolutely no shelters.
Did you state this in your own contracts or is the dog just sold on limited registration?
