I can't believe the breeders that feed Diamond! I switched from Natural choice to diamond because the recent pup I got was on that and it was cheeper so I tried it.... my 3 yr old shepherd who has never had any problems would get Extreme diahrea like water. off and on and his coat was very dull. Someone else told me they don't feed diamond for that reason that some would be lose and some solid not consistant.
What does every one feed??
Thanks

I primarily feed ProPlan, My dogs have always done well on it and I have good luck dealing with the company. It's difficult to find good quality dry food where I am at. I have to travel 30 miles to get ProPlan, then two different stores to get the right kind (Large Breed Lamb and Rice Adult, Large Breed Lamb and Rice Puppy, and then Senior).

ProPlan is not good food.
Haines04,
Diamond makes a lot of different foods. Which one are you feeding?

I switched my dogs to Diamond for half a bag (Athlete formula). I planned to get the regular adult for my girl, after making sure my male liked athlete and never got that far.
While I was out of the country, both dogs got incredibly sick and my poor husband was left to fend for himself. He went and bought a bag of Royal Canin GSD and the problem was immediately resolved. So- I won't use Diamond again, although a girlfriend loves it for her dogs.
I have also fed Natures Variety (loved it, but hard to find in my area) and Innova (loved it, dog got bored with it). Wellness and Solid Gold I like too. Millinneum was the most recent thing I had them on prior to RC, and we loved that too, but all hard to run out the store and get.

I personally think it's all what your dog is used to. No matter what you're feeding if you change diet your dog will get loose stools. Personally I've been feeding Diamond PREMIUM ADULT for over 15 years, and have always had excellent results. Always have rock hard stools, good coats and weights. They do have a cheaper "maintenence" kind that I used once when my feed store ran out of the premium adult, and my dogs did get diarrhea bad, but again I changed their diets, so what did I expect! I know many breeders who've used it over the years with good results too. Twice before I bought Eukanuba, and my dogs wouldn't touch it! So what good would be buying other feeds when your dogs won't eat it. No food is any good if they won't eat it!

Fill me in on the Pro-Plan thing... I may learn something. I've been feeding this for years and always have beautiful shiny coats, firm stools etc. I've actually had better luck with this then Solid Gold, Royal Canin, or Eukanuba. My dogs just did not do as well on those.

I also feed Diamond Premium Adult to my adult dogs, and use Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice for Large Breed Puppy for pregnant & nursing females and my pups. Never had any issues with it. If I have a dog a little underweight, we can mix some ground beef and Diamond Extreme Athlete into the mix (higher fat content) to help with that. All have nice shiny coats and are active, happy and healthy. No bowel problems.

It was Diamond Naturals lrg breed 60+ adult He had been on it for 4months and I gradually switched him he didn't get diahrea till being on it for 2 1/2 months and I forgot he along with the other he did lose some weight.
Thanks everyone

I CAN'T RESIST.
DIAMOND DOGFOOD.
I PUT MY TWO DOGS ON DIAMOND MAINTAINCE AND ALSO DIAMOND PERFORMANCE-BLACK/PURPLE BAG. WELL, IN NO TIME THEY BOTH STARTED GETTING LARGE CYSTS ON THE NECK AND BACK AREA. AND THEY ALSO STARTED GETTING LETHARGIC. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING ABOUT THE AGE 6 AND 7? SO I TOOK THEM TO THE VET. ANYHOW, THE VET SAID IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR DOGS TO DEVELOP THESE CYSTS, WHICH WERE FULL OF THE ITCKY STUFF.
BUT, I KNEW IT HAD TO BE THE FOOD. I DIDN'T KNOW, IT WAS CHEAPER AND SEEMED TO HELP THEIR COATS.
I STOPPED RIGHT AWAY AND THE CYSTS WENT AWAY. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I NOTICED MY FEMALE HAD A CYST AROUND HER TIT. AND YES, IT WAS CANCER, THE BIGGER IT GOT THE SICKER SHE GOT.
THEN, THE RECALL HIT AND THEN I KNEW.
THE DOG DIED A YEAR OF LATER. SHE COULD NOT FIGHT IT. I MISS HER GREATLY AND I SUGGEST EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THAT BRAND.
I MAKES ME PHYSICALLY SICK TO MY STOMACH WHEN I PASS BY IT ON THE SHELF.
I HAVE BEEN FEEDING ROYAL CANIN SINCE. I FEEL FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THE PETS TO DIAMOND.

I fed Diamond years ago and was very happy with the results. Then about 3 years ago I noticed my dogs stools changing condition muscle tone etc . I got leary called the company and they assured me they did not change the formular well long story short I believed my dogs .I got off the food about 1 year later there was a Diamond petfood warning and alot of dogs got very sick :(( I also fed raw meat as I do always. I knew it was not the meat .
Today I feed Fromm Gold ( Adult , Puppy and mature adult ( senior ) and raw meats after trying out various foods including Royal Canine that did not give me the condition I seek in my dogs . I fed Nutri Source before the Fromm and again after feeding it for a few months I noticed changes in the kibble itself it looked more grainy , got off it asap :) Fromm is a petfood that has been around for many years I checked the internet about consumer reports and I found all positive comments. Canidea is also a high end food my dogs however did not do as well as I anticipated fed by far more then my friends who fed Canidea. I found that Fromm and Canidea are in quality equal
I just wish these dog food company's would not change their formulation or if they do they should put at least a notice out to the consumer !!
