Don't know much about Timberwolf but I feed Solid Gold and can tell you it's expensive here in the states too.  I'm not sure what it costs you but I'd imagine it's probably in line with what we pay here.

I have had very good results with Solid Gold.  I noticed it really made a difference in my dogs coats.  It made the black in my dogs coats very shiny and brought out the boldness in their red colorings.  Blue Sky Pet Foods a division of Merrick Pet Foods is the maker I believe of Solid Gold.  I never used Timberwolf to know much about it other than I hear a lot of people feed it and like it as well.

Solid Golds dry food is copacked by Diamond Pet Foods and is very high in grain.  I can not bring myself to trust that manufacturer at all, they do use least cost ingredients and have had multiple major recalls where dogs died. Some dogs do seem to benifit from the exclusion of rendered fats in the food though.

Timberwolf just had a major upset and recall. They changed manufacturers and they changed the recipie. Ocean Blue and  Buffalo  went rancid as soon as it hit the shelf and made many dogs very sick. I also saw returns in Chicken, Wild n Natural, Elk n Salmon, dogs just would not eat the recipie. Timberwolf has now promised to fix the problems but they figure it will be 6 months or so before they will have it resolved. This was a very good product until they changed things.

What else is available where you are?

I tried Solid Gold when I could not get Orijen, my dogs did very poorly on it, lost weight, coat condition poor, soft yellow stools....I gave it a months trial, thinking things might improve once they adjusted to it, but at the end of the month they looked awful, at least to me, perhaps because the Orijen had them looking spectacular. So I was disappointed with Solid Gold, & am now back to feeding Orijen, mixed with Chicken Soup & I add some Halo (Spot's Stew)...& they get raw twice a week as well. jh

I feed my puppies Wolfub and I have had good results, no problems at all, my puppies look great on it.  My local feed store actually stopped carrying Timberwolf because of all the problems with it.  The girl there told me if you call them, and ask where it is manufactured or about the ingredients, you get referred to their lawyers. I haven't read any of the findings myself, but several people have told me about their dishonest ingredient labeling. You may want to look into it.  Solid Gold has a grain free formula called Barking at the Moon which is fantastic. You may want to check out this site:

Thanks for the replies although it seems not many of you in the USA feed Solid Gold, going by the interest to my request

I feed Orijen but i am always looking for a Change in a Dogs diet, or feeding it along with Orijen  but the anwers do not seen to favour the food

It also looks to me that there is no firms in the USA making a good sound kibble for Dogs which do not run into problems

Looks like i have to stay with what we can get over here. I saw it advertised on the firm i buy from which is by mail order, but thought i would get some opinions  from you guys on it first seeing most of it is developed in the USA

I feed Evo now.  They are all in great shape, shiney coats, and good stools.  I know it's a high protien but it seems to agree with them.

Eagle Pack is garbage, imo. Can you get your hands on Artemis? It's another excellent food.

We actually blend our WolfCub with Orijen for our pup, the Orijen is really high in protein for a young dog.
