Wow!!! are there so many out there, what a sad world... I sold a 12 month old green dog to a supposed trainer and he played it off to his cleint as a fully trained PPD dog and sold her for $5000.  I sold  her to him for $2000 with him saying he was going to finish her training but to my surprise that was a lie.

Honesty is hard to come by in the world today, but in the dog world it seems that honesty is not in anyones thoughts..

Unfortunately you are right there are a lot of people out there scamming. I had my experience with someone that was supposed to be a very reputable kennel and a very similar circumstance. The details I will not go into in case the kennel is also part of this group. I don't want to cause a spitting match. But there are also very honest trustworthy people out there. So all I can say is don't let this turn your thoughts to there aren't honest people out there.

Have a good 4th.

What is new? You sold a 12 month old green dog to someone for $2,000? Damn, the dog must have been really something. What was it that made such a dog so valuable in your opinion? In my opinion, selling almost any 12 month old green dog for that amount is outrageous. I think it interesting you come here pissed when someone out-scammed you. There is NO 12 month old green dog worth $2000 in my opinion. So yes, honesty is hard to come by........

A dog that is on all sleeves and trained with aggressive alert in narcotics is not worth 2K?? than you must be just like everyone else that wants everything for free... Plus a pedigee for breeding that is sought after.. I guess is worth nothing !!!

i guess i dont understand the scam part.   was the dog not to be re-sold? ,,, if  the dog was going to be sold did you tell the trainer that you wanted first chance to buy it back?

dogs are bought and sold every day.  from the info you gave i dont really see a scam.  guy bought a dog from you and re sold it.  maybe he lied to the person he sold it to, or maybe that is what they wanted.

The scam is that he protrayed the dog to be fully trained, and he knew she was green.. He dropped the dog off and took the money and said done deal you now have a dog that bites on command and will protect you in any situation (lie). If you all are excepting this as ok then you are also the other scammers out there. I guess I hold more integerty than the ones that think this is O.k.

If a 12 month old dog is showing promise in his drives, has positive prelims and has a good temperament, has a well bred pedigree $2k is a GREAT price!

A puppy at 8 weeks usually sells for $1500 and that is a crap shoot.  A green dog showing promise at 12 months I have seen sold easily for $3-5k.  There is a lot of time that goes into raising a puppy to 12 months old, time that many people do not want to spend, this puts those who want to compete with their dog on a much faster pace to get there.

When I wanted  new dog I was looking for a 6-8 month old for that very reason, I did not want to wait three more years to get going.  I ended up finding Jager, who is a great dog, and at 6 months old, I would not even consider him "green" he came from a pet home with ZERO manners and an uncontrollable attitude, and I paid a solid price price for him of $2k and felt like it was more than fair.  Prelims were done the next week, as a condition of the buy, and the vet said he looked excellent at that age.

But in response to the main topic of this post, yes there are MANY MANY scammers out there, as the Asst. RD for the North Western Region, I get calls ALL of the time of people who have been sold less than desirable dogs for a lot of money.

I had one guy who called me and said he bought a 3 year old bitch, SchH3 for $2500. I thought that seemed pretty low considering the fact that many bitches who make ShcH3 by the time they are 3 years old, are pretty nice bitches and usually kept as a breeding bitch.  That and the fact that he had no papers, no score book, nothing... I had him bring her out, and she sure knew the dumbells, and remembered the hold and bark, a little squirly on the transports, but she knew enough that I had no dobut that she had been titled.  The problem was that looking at her teeth and all of the grey on her face, she looked to be 5 or 6 years old at least.

I can almost bet how this scam unfolded....ts sells dogs as "green dog", buyer is aware dog is by far NOT a fully trained dog but has someone he's gonna sucker into spending 5 grand that is none the wiser, sells dog-new owners figure out dog is not what they were told and got scammed so they call their "seller" who in turn gives them some story that HE was scammed by ts who sold him the dog as "fully trained" to take the heat off himself and onto someone they do not know to make it look like their "broker" got scammed.

I can see why ts would be ticked off.  It's not about the "business" that someone bought a dog from you and resold it for double the money IF the dog was represented as it was when you bought it and IF it's represented as what it truly is.

Normal price for working-line puppies from titled parents is @ $1500.  For sure the price would be higher than that at 12 months old when the pup has some training, and buyer can see for themselves the temperament, drive, health, nerve, structure of the dog that can't be seen in the 8 week old.  $2000 IMO is very reasonable for a 1 year old green dog.
