This was too much FUN!.. I tried to think of the most idiotic things to say on this post and was curious if anyone would believe it? Purpose of this post was to ID people who are gullible and those who have lost touch with reality and/or somewhat loony. May I suggest that you read the posts and ID those people and in the future BEFORE you try to argue or reason with them think about this posting! What would a reasonable person think! The other thing is most of you know my posting and should have caught on to the trick.
TEST RESULTS:
MI_GSD - A smart one and caught on instantly!
Sunsilver - MIddle of the road
Reminder - Read posts and decide for yourselves
My thanks to those who participiated in my Joke...

It may be a make believe scenario at this time, but stranger things have come true throughout the ageswith things said in jest

DR said: Sunsilver - MIddle of the road
Hmmm, if you'll look back, you'll see my first post was making a joke about my weight, then ridiculing you:
"which in turns creates energy which is starting to effect the worlds gravity by increasing it -1/+1 every 3 years..."
So THAT'S why my weight is increasing! And here I thought it was due to middle-age spread!
Seriously, DR, if that doesn't set off your B.S. meter, then you've been out in the sun too long!
Oh, okay, you don't agree with the global warming thing. More's the pity. I know there are arguments for and against it, but I look at it this way. For many decades, the American economy has run on the premise: "What's good for G.M. (and the oil companies, and the other 2 'Big Three" automakers) is good for the country. Cutting back on fossil fuel use and thereby reducing CO2 emissions is therefore NOT good for the country. So, that's why some scientists and so-called 'experts' are trying to convince us it's a tempest in a teapot.
I saw back in the late 60's that the auto makers had zero interest in reducing emissions, and developing alternative fuel sources. This blindness has led to the situation we're in now with soaring fuel prices, and a glut of gas-guzzling vehicles on the market which no one wants to buy. Auto plants which are producing trucks and SUV's are all running at a fraction of their capacity, and many are being shut down and workers laid off.
Meanwhile, which auto maker is laughing all the way to the bank? Toyota, the first to start to make serious use of hybrid technology. (Pats the hood of her 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid...)

No insult intended Sunsilver..The second half of your post is why I put you in the "Middle" but thanks for clarifying yourself.
Second half below................
"As for global warming, if you lived in my part of the world, and watched ski resort after ski resort in the Toronto area go belly up due to lack of snow, you'd be taking what the scientists say about it more seriously!
When I was a kid, I remember having to bundle up to go outside on my birthday (May 10th). Now, were're having 80 degree temperatures in March and April. Two summers ago, for the first time in my life, the temperature officially hit 100 F!
As a biologist, I understand the science behind it, too. The increase in CO2 levels has been carefully documented. CO2 prevents heat from escaping into space, as it absorbs the long-wave heat radiation produced when the earth is warmed by the sun (so-called Greenhouse Effect). A rise in ocean levels, and the retreat of glaciers has also been well documented. The freezing of sea ice is happening later each year, causing a problem for the polar bears, who depend on the ice for their winter supply of seal meat. They hang around the towns on the edge of James Bay, waiting for freeze up, and scavenging for garbage and people's pet dogs and cats. Needless to say, this is becoming a real problem in certain areas of the north, as the bears will also attack humans. The more they hang around human settlements, the less fear they have of people. Why do you think Alaska recently put the polar bear on the endangered species list?"

No offence taken, DR. It's all just a joke!
But I take global warming seriously enough that I had to defend my stand on it...

by DesertRangers on 04 July 2008 - 18:07
Great and I respect that.
The real scary thing to me is that some people read my post and thought I was being serious!

by Sunsilver on 04 July 2008 - 18:07
Apparently some people have never read Alvin Toffler. I couldn't find the exact quote, but it's something along the lines of: "What our kids are going to need to cope with the future is a built-in, 100% shock-proof crap detector!"

Sunsilver!
There recently was a study done on Hybrid Cars. The results of which stated that it involved more pollution building them than was offset by their improved mileage. Evidently the batteries are made from nickel which is mined in your Country (Canada). The effects (pollution created) from mining and processing the nickel plus transportation to Japan far outweigh the advantage gained mileage. Of course this was never presented to the public by our biased media that want all the Hybrid owners to be riding around thinking they are saving the planet while they just doled out an addtional 10 grand for transportation. When of course they are merely contributing to the situation, please don't inform them as it may result in suicide.
Also there is an article out just this weekend claiming that the gas used to produce flat screen TVs is 17,000 times worse than the carbon from burning fossil fuels.
PS I'm married to a Canadian
