I have never seen ground chicken at a grocery store! The only thing about turkey I remember reading was it can cause more gas. I don't feed it so wish I could be more help....

The only thing with ground anything is that unless you buy the ultra-lean there is still fat mixed in the meat. Fat can contribute to problems that you are trying to fix.
Do you have a costco near by? The price you pay at a grocery store for ground chicken and turkey you can buy a whole lot more of the costco chicken breasts frozen in the big bag. These boil up really quickly and they are perfect for bland diets. You may already know this though..

Calvin,
Ground turkey is often very, very fatty and turkey fat can contribute to pancreatitis or other upset in some GSDS. I don't know what you need a bland diet for, but this is not what I would call bland.

If it's ground turkey breast, then it might qualify as bland. I see ground turkey chubs in the grocery stores listed at 93/7 and lower; I'd go with the 93/7 since it's only 7% fat. Depending on why you want the bland diet, that might be too much. Someone else suggested shopping for chicken breasts at Costco (or Sam's Club or Wal-Mart I would add) for less expensive packages of chicken breasts. Chicken's really the best bland meat. Just boil it and tear it or cut it up for a sick dog. I used to have a dog with food allergies and other immune problems, so I went through the bland homemade diet thing.

I use low fat ground turkey often when I want to feed Blitz a bland diet. I cook it first and if there is any residual fat, I just pour it off, drain the meat and then place it on paper towels. Mix it with brown rice and that's it. Not any different than ground chicken IMO. The lower the fat, the better. The tendency is to use the higher fat parts for any ground meat, but you can find low fat ground chicken and turkey in my local grocery.

Why is a bland diet needed? Raw chicken and raw turkey are both bland.
