Did you pay California State sales tax on your puppies? In this state, anyone who sells more than two dogs/pups per year is required ti obtain a resale permit from the State Board of Equalization and to collect/pay sales tax.
I don't breed litters anymore but, when I was a hobby breeder, I had a resale permit.

I am sorry the breeder was not up front with you. I also commend you on knowing you are over your head and wanting to do the right thing by the pup. I am not defending the breeder, but even Show dogs have faults, they all do. Breeders have sold dogs as pets that have turned into VA dogs. They are like potato chips, It is hard to have just one.
By the way, you will need to spend one on one time with the two remaining, and make it very fun time. They need to bond to you and just not to each other. There are alot of people on this board who can help you thru this, just have thick skin, it will be well worth the effort.

Good luck. And wow 2k? well no offense but I think you have little too much money. I will give you sound advise try to let go both of the dogs. And keep only one. Unless you have responsible child than maybe just maybe split them apart so they can bond to only one of you. Thank you can star training them. And good luck. If I would be you I would never got two to begin, but if you already did it will be a lot of work I would like you to be aware of that. If you can keep only one. It will be smarter way to go. Good luck. There is nothing worst than breeder that don't care about his pups. Good luck once again.

msd,
We appreciate your perspective on this. However, I cannot accept that the problem should all be laid at the feet of the breeder. It is more than common sense that having three pups, especially GSDs, would be more than almost anyone could handle. I do not know who the breeder is, and yes, in my opinion they are also responsible for this situation. I cannot comment on what you paid because I know nothing of the sire and dam, or the pups. You may have paid a fair price, maybe not. Again, you seem naive, at best, and that sets the stage for someone potentially being able to take advantage of you. Did that happen here? I cannot say.
What I do hope you will do is be certain the pup gets an appropriate home. You paid for the pup, so at this point, though I think it was insane to sell you three, it is your pup to do with as you please. You might post here again, or, if you wish, you can email me privately and I will give you some ideas about what to look for when trying to place the pup. If you do not do it right, the pup may pay the price for this unfortunate situation.
I would also strongly suggest you find some assistance in training the pups. There is a lot to know when one has a single pup to raise and the situation is different when there are two involved.
Good luck.
