I'm the one who bought 3 puppies and I would like to clear the record. We love dogs but did make a mistake about thinking about more that 1 pup. However, please let there be no mistake-the breeder NEVER told us not to buy more than one and was overjoyed when we decided to buy the 3rd one. We were never told the problems and possible implications about pack issues in the future. They also said look how many dogs they take care of so we should be able to take care of 3. The breeder just said if had a positive attitude we could do it. The only thing said was it would be a lot of work but never were we discouraged. We were also sold two of the three pups at showdog prices $2000.00 each who were pet dogs with faults and we were never told. We trusted the breeder and the other breeder who referred us to them. When I asked to return one, I only ASKED if there would be a partial refund and was told yes and I agreed. I NEVER argues about money and the breeder took my $6000.00 check very readily and eagerly. Now the breeder will not take the pup back and we are glad as we don;'t now want to return him to that environement with too many dogs and too small a place. We would like to find him a good home if someone can help us. We made a mistake AND were taken advantage of by our dog ignorance. We love them and love dogs. If you care about the welfare of the pups/dogs you will understand where I'm coming from. Thank you for your time.

Did you pay California State sales tax on your puppies? In this state, anyone who sells more than two dogs/pups per year is required ti obtain a resale permit from the State Board of Equalization and to collect/pay sales tax.

I don't breed litters anymore but, when I was a hobby breeder, I had a resale permit.

I am sorry the breeder was not up front with you. I also commend you on knowing you are over your head and wanting to do the right thing by the pup. I am not defending the breeder, but even Show dogs have faults, they all do. Breeders have sold dogs as pets that have turned into VA dogs. They are like potato chips, It is hard to have just one.

By the way, you will need to spend one on one time with the two remaining, and make it very fun time. They need to bond to you and just not to each other. There are alot of people on this board who can help you thru this, just have thick skin, it will be well worth the effort.

Good luck. And wow 2k? well no offense but I think you have little too much money. I will give you sound advise try to let go both of the dogs. And keep only one. Unless you have responsible child than maybe just maybe split them apart so they can bond to only one of you. Thank you can star training them. And good luck. If I would be you I would never got two to begin, but if you already did it will be a lot of work I would like you to be aware of that. If you can keep only one. It will be smarter way to go. Good luck. There is nothing worst than breeder that don't care about his pups. Good luck once again.

 msd,

We appreciate your perspective on this. However, I cannot accept that the problem should all be laid at the feet of the breeder. It is more than common sense that having three pups, especially GSDs, would be more than almost anyone could handle. I do not know who the breeder is, and yes, in my opinion they are also responsible for this situation. I cannot comment on what you paid because I know nothing of the sire and dam, or the pups. You may have paid a fair price, maybe not. Again, you seem naive, at best, and that sets the stage for someone potentially being able to take advantage of you. Did that happen here? I cannot say.

What I do hope you will do is be certain the pup gets an appropriate home. You paid for the pup, so at this point, though I think it was insane to sell you three, it is  your pup to do with as you please. You might post here again, or, if you wish, you can email me privately and I will give you some ideas about what to look for when trying to place the pup. If you do not do it right, the pup may pay the price for this unfortunate situation.

I would also strongly suggest you find some assistance in training the pups. There is a lot to know when one has a single pup to raise and the situation is different when there are two involved.

Good luck.
