I would like to hear what companies are not giving grief about having dogs or are not specifically disqulifying certian breeds.

Who are you having good luck with?

State Farm. No breed specific questions-innocent until proven guilty.

State Farm - like the previous poster said the breed is not an issue. But my agent said that one is "allowed one bite" and then they will specifically exclude liability claims relating to the dog or require you to purchase separate insurance through them assuming that they are willing to underwrite it in the first place.

State Farm, However, they do ask me if any certificates for training. they also ask me what breeds I have. the first time they asked me that, I thought I was going to have to go without. Told them ROTTIE and GSD, still have insurance.

I have Pits and GSDs and no issues w/State Farm at all. Last time I renewed they just asked me if I had any "dangerous dogs" and I asked what they meant by that. He replied "dogs who have previously bitten unprovoked." I thought that was pretty good criteria. I also like that they will leave a specific dog out of the policy if it's problematic, and not dump you altogether.

I have Country insurance and they say they have NO breed bans.  They do give you one bite also.  I did also increase my liability to $500,000 because we live across the street from a middle school and the dogs and my kids have a trampoline.  It was kind of funny when my agent asked if my dog has ever bitten anyone.....I wanted to say "At least 2 times a week!" but refrained!  LOL

We have Nationwide and they did ask if we had dogs when we got our new policy and they did ask what breed the first initial time.  GSD's were not a problem but Pitt's would have been she told me.  They did not ask if my dogs had any certifications or if they were trained and of course I did not elaborate.  Once you've had the policy in place if you acquire dogs they never asked us after that if we even still had dogs.  They were more concerned about if we had a trampoline and said they will not insure a trampoline.
