A few drops in back of the tongue will hit the system immediately. Powerlifters and performance athletes, used them back when the drops were readily available at Vet offices.Cheque drops, have no anabolic(Muscle Building) properties what so ever, but the androgenic(Masculinizing) properties are off the charts.
The old discontinued Cheque drops by Upjohn, were given to female canines, to keep them from coming into season. Milberone(Cheque Drops) is still available at certain Vet Pharmacies and on the black market. A few drops under, or on the tongue cause a androgenic rush and aggression. Carnation had a big contract with Upjohn to make a feed with the Cheque Drops already in it. This is a long read, but very informative and shows why Upjohn and Carnation could never pull off their feed. Word around the campfire is that Tyson took Milberone(Cheque Drops) before he bit Holyfields ear off. http://www.animalpeoplenews.org/ru4861100.html
Upjohn and the Carnation Company began developing a contraceptive
dog food with mibolerone as the active ingredient in 1975. Approval for distribution of mibolerone as an Upjohn product called
Cheque Drops was obtained, after testing at racing greyhound kennels.
Cheque Drops caught on with greyhound racers, and use soon spread to sled
dogs. The Iditarod and other major dog sled races prohibit giving the dogs
steroids or other drugs with similar effects, but mibolerone is exempted.
But all did not go well for Carnation --not because of any problems
associated with giving mibolerone to dogs, but because of fallout from
mifepristone testing in France by the original manufacturer, Rousel Ucalf,
a subsidiary of the German firm Hoescht A.G.
As well as having contraceptive properties, mifepristone was in
1982 discovered to be an abortificant. That projected the entire
mibolerone chemical family into the middle of the international controversy
over human abortion.
Opposition to human abortion was just reaching peak momentum,
worldwide. Then-U.S. President Ronald Reagan had been swept into office in
1980 partly for his opposition to the 1973 Roe-vs.-Wade U.S. Supreme Court
decision legalizing abortion.

I believe Cheque Drops are currently available to prevent heat cycles in female dogs.
This is a link to one of Dr. Hutchison's seminars on canine reproduction. He talks about the use of Cheque Drops and promotes their use.

I wouldn't touch them. A friend who shows Cardis said she knows of several bitches who had their cycles so screwed up by the cheque drops that it was impossible to get them pregnant once they came off them!
I think they contribulted to the death of one bitch, but I don't recall the details.

DONT MESS WITH MOTHER NATURE...
by Rainhaus on 27 June 2008 - 05:06
Absolutely NOT mess with mother nature.A female has to cycle regularly...her timing. If people have a problem with males around...That is their problem. If it is due to the fact of showing/working so the boys don't get scent.Tell the owners of the boys to put some vicks up their nose. That would be a joke.!!!Any type of chemical altercation(sp) in the heat cycles of the bitch will cause problems in the long run

Blitzen, In the link you posted from 2002, the Dr. states:: "this is WHY it's such a crime we don't have Cheque drops on the market now, to preserve the bitch's uterine lining.Several of you have asked when they will be back on the market....one company promised by this spring."
I used the Upjohn Cheque Drops all the years they were on the market. I never had a problem, nor did I ever hear of any other large Kennel having one. The drops are not to be used on the little Lamb Dog (Bedlington Terriers) or other breeds predisposed to kidney or liver disease.
The link below states that Upjohn is making the Drops again. I don't know if that is true or not. Your Vet should be able to tell you.

I've heard bad stories about Cheque Drops too. I used them on 2 of my own bitches, no problem. I think they are back on the market?
