This pup is being sold by Lancaster puppies for $500. It's an "AKC" registered GSD female. Hmmm... What do you think?

Looks like a Sib x GSD, but I have seen all colors and patterns of GSD. Especially AM lines. Lots of creams and silvers and that husky pattern in AM lines.

If the pup had a red color coat it would look like a red fox.

Yikes... I am purely speechless now that I have read that article... Their site alone really was shocking but after reading that I am astounded.

Well, sorry, but I don't chuckle. This puppy mill stuff has been going on in Amish counties, especially in Lancaster County, PA, for a long, long time. But people still buy. Anyone who looks at this site should be sickened, and especially, if one looks at the supposed GSDs, you should have the minimal ability to realize what poor quality dogs these are. To boot, as you can see, the area has a co-op of sorts and about every imaginable combination is present, and probably raised by relatives. It really is shameful. It is, if I ever saw it, a mockery of one's deity.

Yes Hodie you are right....
My chuckle was about the sucker that would actually believe this girl was AKC registered and 100% GSD. The site sickened me and I was quite angry after I read their answers to the posed "puppy mill" questions. They defended their site and actions stating that they simply helped neighboring breeders sell their dogs. YEAH RIGHT!! I wanted to call them up and give them a piece of my mind! I had absolutely no idea how much of a problem puppy mills were in that area till I read that article and other articles relating to that area in PA. It is a shame so many animals suffer in this way and your right too about the very poor quality of these dogs. All the breeds not just the shepherds... These are some really sickening people. It is a real shame.
I suppose it more appropriately should have read "WOW...HOW SAD"

spernagsds,
I really question whether the pups shown under GSD are not really mixes. They look more to me like they have malamute in them or something. I do GSD rescue, and believe me, I have seen some terrible specimens of the breed, but these on this site take the cake.

I would have never believed this was a pure bred GSD, American lines or not it looks like a mix BUT I do have to admitt it's a cute little bugger but not for $500.

From the link on puppymills:
AKC spokesman Wayne Cavanaugh says his organization conducts "about 4,000 inspections a year—more inspections [of puppy breeders] than the ASPCA and USDA combined."
So AKC claims to be doing lots of inspections. So how come they aren't "inspecting" known puppymillers? Rather convenient for them to only inspect good kennels, that way they don't lose money from cutting off those lucrative puppymill registrations, yet at the same time avoid the hue and cry from pesky people who care about the dogs and get in the way.
"But the USDA is the only one who can close down a puppy mill. We are really frustrated there," he added
Oh I can tell how "REALLY frustrated" AKC is, it must be really hard to count all the money from the registration of those poor puppies without letting everyone see the shit eating grin on your face.
