Kalibeck

If I Didn't Have Dogs... I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety. My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated. All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair. When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel. When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there. I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable. I would have money ..and no guilt to go on a real vacation. I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college. The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, off, and leave him/her/it ALONE. My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers. My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere. My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash. I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A -L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside. I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much. I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season. I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get. How EMPTY my life would be! (sent to me in an e-mail) jackie harris

Lol thats so true. They forgot to add one more thing your grass would look as good as your neighbors hahaha :). And you would not feel like you need bigger car all the time. You favorite place to spend time would not be just a park when your dog can run freely around. And finally you could wear black cloths again hahaha :).

So very true!

I'd like to add: my socks would last longer! (Yes, I have a sock-eater in the house!  My rescue just carries them around in his mouth, but my young bitch with the omnivourous tendencies will eat them, and her toys, the rug, etc. etc.)

*hehe* Love it! A few I'd like to add:

"I wouldn't need to buy tennis balls by the dozen"..."My car windows would be free of nose-streaks"... " 'Pawprint' would no longer be classified as an interior design style"... "My furniture would not be at risk of have the corners rounded off by eager puppies"... "I could go out guilt-free without being haunted by the sad faces lined in the window, watching forlornly as I pull out of the driveway"... "I would no longer have to worry about a pocketful of treats going through the washing machine."

Wow, so true!  Or have neighbors who say with a sort of incredulous distain "Do you REALLY bring all of those dogs in at night?!!" as if I was committing some kind of health code violation by bringing my dogs inside at night to sleep.  And they reap the benefit, no barking at night.  Of course...the other neighbor's house might not have been burglarized if my dogs had been outside at night to bark at the B&E guys.  Come to think of it, both of my neighbors have been burglarized-- while I forget to lock the door sometimes...

Thanks for sharing.  That is too cool.  Also I wouldn't have to spell cookie bone or chewy doie which is our word for rawhides.  As for living with 4 dogs and a cat my cousin constantly tells me : I can't believe you live with those big ole dogs in your house"....................I wouldn't have it any other way...............

by radarsmom on 26 June 2008 - 22:06

I would not have a crate in my bedroom (an unusual decorating accent) and I would not awaken to "slobber kisses" when Daddy gets Radar up for his morning walk.  Can't imagine starting the day any other way!
