When a person is looking for a good working line pup what is the average price to expect to pay. Whats to high and what is to cheap.

On the east coast it seems to be around 1k if you purchased before from the breeder and he trusts you bit more he will usually drop down the price a bit. Its hard to find anything good under 1k.

On the west coast average price seems to be $1500.00 - $2000.00

I've seen what Kari is saying.  That seems to be the norm.  Different areas have different price ranges.

I used to wonder how people could afford 1000.1500.2000. for a pup until we had a couple bring a couple show line pups they bought from a Big breeder in Michigan Kolinda or something like that, They were all excited and nad paid 3500.00 each and I kid you not these were the biggest nerve bag low drive animlas i,d ever seen scared of toys and would even get close to a rag , After that i never questioned the price of a good working pup I paid 1500 for my pup from a texas breeder and she is everything I wantted and more my advise check out the breeder, dogs, background, customer then do it again and don,t get in a hurry take your time and hunt wisley.

Interesting question which I'm sure has been asked many times before.I would say that a good average is probably about $1200 give or take. I think, that it also depends on where you are located.I have been given free puppies, so if there such a thing as too cheap.  To me, so many people throw two dogs together and ask a fortune. Even when the dog has never been bred before. If the dog has been bred multiple times and none of it's progeny is doing anything it's not producing. Just because the dog can work, that doen't mean that it can reproduce his/her working ability. Go to several clubs and ask questions. If there are local breeders in your area, see if they have dogs in the local working clubs. I would not spend more than $1500 for an 8 week old puppy, that's just me.

This is what I thought, Ok where i'm going with this is that we have a litter here of nice working line pups and was wondering, because of our price, was this the reason we have had lots of inquiries but no deposits as of yet. I thought that because of the ecomony is why we are having problems now. Other litters we had reseves before they hit the ground. I don't want to drop price as all of you know what it costs to raise pups and all the work invoved with them until they are 8 weeks old. so any comments to this would be great.

If both parents are titled and koered and xrayed and the bloodlines are good, I'd expect to pay between $1200 and $2000 for working line pups with a contract and some sort of health guarantee.

Show line pups seem to go for between $2000 and $3500.

Thats what I thought, yes both parents have titles and been OFA'ed, but like I said before its weird that we haven't had reserved a couple of pups as of now. Maybe people are being more careful as to their spending practices right now due to the ecomony

ghostly-  You are not the only one who's having this problem.  It's not you or probably not even what you've bred it's the economy right now.  A lot of breeders who typically have their pups gone before they hit the ground are suffering the same way and they have high quality pups.  i just had a litter myself- my first one and this was probably the worst time I could have gone into this venture because it was frustrating.
