Opinions please. When mating, if the male tries but cannot tie over a four-day period of time, and also will not give a sperm sample for fresh AI, would you pay the stud fee immediately or wait until confirmation of pregnancy? Dates of ovulation are known via serial progesterone testing. We had one AI on the last possible day of fertilization.
Thanks

If you did the AI, you should pay.

If your contract says you pay up front, you should pay. Now, the stud owner could be nice and cut you a break, but that's their choice. You go by your stud contract.

We base our stud fee as stated you pay after 1st tie, you had one AI done so that would be considered a tie. As for if she didn't get pregnant, then like ours we allow you to use us to stud with same male at the next heat. But it is up to the owner of the bitch to know when she has ovalulated. Even when we breed out of house I don't exchange any money before the breeding, but do pay in full after 1st tie.
