That is awful! That's why I don't like places like "dog parks" and never take my dog there. I've heard too many horror stories. Too many uneducated people that don't understand their dogs letting them run free with other dogs you don't know-just not a good idea in my mind. Also dogs can get sick and pick up illnesses from other dogs or even eat/drink something contaminated like it that article....there's too many other places to socialize dogs that are more controlled and safer.

There will always be mean hateful dangerous people and caution is the order of the day. I don't go to dog parks period, too many things can happen. And its not just the dog's, I'm old enough to remember going trick or treating as kids and having the most wonderful time's, then came the poison and needles and razor blade's. I remember walking home from school, then came the abductions and the fear our children had to endure. I could easily give up my good nature and become someone else. So far I haven't had too, I figure if I did it would mean they have won.

Most people don't give any thought to why a dog park would be a bad idea. I always just thought it was bad because the thought of 50 strange dogs of all breeds running loose with one another with inexperienced owners was enough reason for me to not participate but then someone mentioned to me the other downfalls that I never would have thought of as a "pet owner" like the illness they can catch from other dogs or someone's dog biting a person/child...I can control my dogs, they do well with other dogs and have no aggression issues BUT how do you know that the 15 pound jack russell terrier that thinks it's "macho man" will be so "well controlled"??? Next thing you know your GSD takes a bite and the owner is raising holy hell. Not worth it!
