KariM

Good morning all,   As I watched Meet the Press this morning, it wasn't the same without Tim, the tribute to him was a very moving one.   I know all of you know that last weekend Tim passed away from a heart attack.  If you did not watch Meet the Press, or pay attention to politics,  if any of you have watched even the nightly news you will have noticed what an amazing man Tim was.   He was a down to earth friend,  an amazing father and just a very selfless man.  Tim lived his life everyday.  He was a man of integrity and honor.   Some people die and leave money, are remembered for few things.  Tim will be remembered for a man of character, a true friend and father and an honest man, in my opinion there is nothing to compare to.   As I watch the memorials, I am amazed at the impact one man has had on so many people in such a positive light.  He gave unselfishly and he truly was a great man.   Listening to many people of every stature speak so highly of a man is very humbling.  Often you hear the same story from the neighbor down the block to stars such as Jay Leno, Tim never talked above anyone, he never treated anyone as if he were better than they were.  He was genuinely interested in the lives of those he was talking to, not one to brag on his own accomplishments, but the accomplishments of others.   I can only begin to hope to have even a fraction of the impact on others that Tim has had on many.  He was a great man. He was an honest man.  Tim was full of life every day, up until the day that he died.    If any of one of us were to sit back and reflect on the life of Tim Russert and take away one thing, we would all be better people, he lived his life for others, not just for himself as so many people do.   Just a Suday morning thought   ~Kar

I watched the MSNBC coverage for days and nights. What a shame.

While he was a good interviewer, he was still a democrat liberal from the Tip O'Neal school. Just not as obvious as most of the liberal media but still pushing big government solution liberalism.

I liked Tim a lot also and was stunned when he died.  I watched the MSNBC tributes for days also.

Alaman, you missed the whole point of my post, my post was entirely about his chararcter, and the humbling experience of the type of man he was and what he will be remembered for.  He is not remembered for his political views, he is remembered as an outstanding MAN, one we should all look to to better our own lives and neighborhoods.

He was bright and well educated, came from a hardworking blue collar family and never ever forgot his roots.  This has nothing to do with his political views.  Tim Russert interviewed every person with the same direct and often challenging questions regardless of their polictical preference. He was not just a great interviewer, he was a great human being.

If every crazy liberal were as real man of a man as Tim was bring them on!  - AND I am a moderate Republican!

The human factor of Tim showed a man of valor , honesty and a love in his heart for men and women everywhere, anywhere, and no matter who they were or where they originated from...

Many stories of how he welcomed new men into the newsroom and Geraldo Rivera was one who said he never failed to greet him, when he arrived on the scene , a new reporter., when the rest of the staff , turned their nose up at the new man on the block...

Katy Curic said the same thing..He welcomed her as a newcomer and set the stage for her to always   RESPECT HIM..

I think no matter whether he was left or right or independent or moderate or conservative or liberal,,he first was  a RESPECTED    MAN  by all.              Hard to find in todays News Media.

He was still a hack for liberals under a moderate guise. Fine man maybe but so was HHH but I wouldn't want HHH as president. Russert pushed O'Neal politics and learned under the master. O'Neal made a deal with Reagan, raise taxes and we'll cut spending and lied. Russert was the same, lulling  someone into thinking he was fair while beingotherwise. Russert went after conservatives but except for the "debate" between Hillard and Hussein Obama, never went after liberals while seemingly playing fair. That's what I'll remember him for. Lots of blue collar people make it by hard work. They deserve to be praised but their views such as political and their effects still need to be considered in evaluating a person.
