Yeah, I'm talking about me! Remember that thread awhile back, Stupid Owner Tricks? Well, I've got another one to add to my list!
Memo to self:
DO NOT leave dried liver treats in jacket pocket. Especially DO NOT leave treats in pocket, then neglect to hang the coat up, then merrily go off to dinner, leaving dogs unattended and uncrated in motel room.
I'm going to have to get the jacket fixed soon. I keep forgetting the pocket now has a large hole in it. I very nearly lost my car keys yesterday! Luckily my friend spotted them lying on the grass before I'd even missed them, as I was 3 hours from home at the time, and that's where the spare set of keys was!

Hmm, I think I can top that. Many of you remember when I mentioned my seven-month stint working as a technician in a dog food plant when I was between engineering jobs. Each evening my clothes would reek from the scent of dog food and cat food additives. Needless to say, my dogs always enjoyed when I can home at midnight so they could sniff all the aromas from my clothes.
My wife did not like for me to toss my dirty clothes into the washer if anything else was in it, so sometimes they were stored elsewhere (corner of the bathroom floor) for a couple of days. Of course in that type of work, one is sometimes sprayed with warm tallow, or warm tallow mixed with pureed liver and digestive enzymes. Yes, it is every bit as foul as you can imagine-just like being painted with some really hot and greasy puke. Ah, but the dogs loved me.
Over the course of time, I had the entire sleeve from two (2) long-sleeved shirts eaten completely from the shirt. I lost one (1) leg from a pair of Levi's jeans, and a serious bite was taken was taken from a safety boot. So, what was the final cost? One (1) pair of jeans at about $30.00, two (2) shirts at about $20.00 each, and one (1) of a pair of boots at $160.00 a pair. That is quite expensive when one is making but $14.00/hour.
There were many other articles of clothing that had a rip here and there, as well as a corner that was mysteriously missing. I did learn quickly to leave my clothes in the dog food closet until they were ready to wash. And of course I changed jobs later and eventually returned to working as an engineer!
Regards,
Bob-O

I feel your pain, Bob-O! This sort of thing can get rather expensive!
I have a dog that eats my socks. There's one of them she's managed to get hold of several times, as she picks it iout of the trash can. All that's left is about 2 inches of the cuff!
It's amazing what a dog's digestive system is able to handle, and the things they will try to eat. One of the latest casualties was my favourite Bible, chewed into a hundred pieces (must have been the leather cover that attracted them.) Last night I noticed my new lawn sprinkler was leaking at the far end. I turned it off to check it out, and sure enough, they'd had a go at the plastic plug at the end of the metal tube! Oh, well, could have been worse, they could have targeted the hose instead!
