The Govenor at present...Sara Palin is getting on the oil companies HARD. She is proposing a tax on them and taking that money to give every Alaskan a debt card for $200 a month for fuel. She is also going to seize their oil leases if they do not start producing out of those tracts as the contracts state.

This sounds good to losers as they think they will get something for free. No Corporation pays taxes as they view them as debits and pass the price on to consumers. Not just oil but all corps. Let's all remember back to the late 70's when Carter imposed the windfall profits tax and the end result was a shortage of gas and long lines. Remember I can't drive 55!
Contrary to popular belief Corps are not in business to serve the common good of all men. They are in business to make a profit. All of you people in the stock market or 401K's want to see some profits as you look to retirement. Where do you think those earnings come from?
Mexico nationlized their oil and look how well the common people have profited? Yea right not at all and they keep trying to get to USA.
Problem is our welfare has created a 2 generations of losers who live off of welfare and want us people who work to pay for all of their bad decisions. These are the people who support the liberals in congress. These people now have no shame in taking handouts and in fact demand it plus more!
You get rid of these type people then we have enough money to actually take care of the elderly and others such as retarded and handicapped people who need help. People with real health issues. Funny how alot of people with real issues want to work and the loser group try to get out of work.

Wont change a damn thing. This isnt a supply issue. The US Dollar has lost half of its value to the Euro is 6 years (By design imo)
It will take 5 years to get the Alakan oil, meanwhile we run defecit spending, our infrastructure crumbles & we continue to burn money in iraq & on Illegals. We are in a mess is bottom line.
Oil was $100... 2 months ago. Its now $140 . This is driven by a Declining US dollar (Fed/Inflation) and speculation.
Incidentally it was BUSH 1, who vetoed legislation related to future shore drilling in early 1990s. The alternative technology is there but is hard to get to market & often gets bought out by the Oil companies.
The electric car is proof of this. Chevron bought the technology made by Toyota & GM. Cars like the RAV are still on the road driving. Solar panel on the roof charges, the electric engine through your garage. THis project was killed.
You can youtube.... air car ......as well and see what they have in France, Its pretty cool. Grand Prix technology. ENgine runs off compressed air. 80mph and 300 miles per charge. Bet it never makes it to market here.

LOL... I am in the oil industry and I love for people to say those things. You can start now and see results in a few years or we can wait until it gets worse and start then and it will still take the same number of years to get the oil to market...But keep blaming Bush or whoever cause I am loving these high prices as my business is booming! Thanks for all your help!

That as the only place would not solve all problems. There are multiple places to drill or recover oil. I always get a kick out of driving through some of the tourist towns in CA and see all the little oil wells in the neighbrhood yards. So much for the claims it destroys all around them. We need to look at alternative energy also. I know, electric cars, which plug into outlets that get their power from oil burning and coal burning plants,,,,,,, We need to look at solar, nuclear, hydro, and methane from garbage disposal. BTW, in Washington state, hydro is no longer considered renewable resourse and they want to remove all the dams. Hmmmmm.

Actually I am all for conservation and finding alternative energy but the fact is we are years away from finding a solution that is viable to the level that will effect the global market for oil. I have no doubt that i will retire years before the demand for oil actually declines.
The technology today is so good the majors and many independents don't tolerate the smallest of spills. You still have the rare accidents but think how hurricane Katrina hit the hundreds of rigs and platforms in the GOM and we had no spills to speak of!
It is very expense to wildcat in locations that have a higher incident of dry holes so the oil companies are willing to invest more money in proven fields with known reserves. The oil fields of the USA are getting older and depeleting everyday and in most of our Natural Gas Fields we have to aggressively drill just to maintain our current levels of production.
I could show you pictures of all types of critters that hang out in the oil field and practically live by the pumpjacks, tank batteries and around the platforms in the GOM. Lots of good fishing there.
Bottom line our dependance of importing oil has caught up to us as the global demand accelerated much faster than anticpiated by people in the USA including congress. It's not a game but it's the real world market where our outsourcing has created another Industrial revolution in many countries as American business strive for cheap labor. Many people reading this contribute by purchasing foreign cars, electronics, clothing and practically everything you buy anymore. I do the same but am now looking for American Products and dont mind paying a few extra bucks but some things it is almost impossible to find American Made. My second choice are countries that are allies of America such as Japan, England etc..
I try hard NOT to buy anything from China!

by Two Moons on 21 June 2008 - 05:06
Is this the answer??
No, I don't think opening up these reserves will change the price the consumer pay's for anything. We will still be getting the shaft and they will be swimming in gravy. I agree about alternative's mainly for environmental reasons, nuclear is still a little scary tho.
This video is a little long winded and hasn't anything new in it that I haven't heard before.
Don't think it will change a thing.

The tough thing for most Americans is to realize we don't control the supply of oil and now have lots of competition for the oil that is on the market. No quick fix is correct but We have been talking about the dangers of depending on foreign oil since the 70's and nothing much has changed. We better get to work on all the mentioned at a much faster rate or we will be paying alot more for gas and oil..

Yes the dollar has been devalued (debased) purposefully (weimar republic style) to create massive world wide social chaos and upheaval of all existing govt so they can be melded into a global one world fascists regime with some self-proclaimed demi-gods running the worker bees which has been thinned out by approx 80% with heartless malthusian corrections imposed covertly.
But the US has no need to import any oil, that's right, NONE. 80% or more of all the oil mined in Alaska goes to Japan. It should stay here. There is so much oil in the USA and off its coasts in its own territorial waters it is mind blowing (at least 300 yearsd at current US consumption patterns. We need a congress that will get everybody back to work WPA style if necessary, working on rebuilding the infrastructure, building at least 2-3 new refineries per state, mining and refining oil and developing alternative energy systems like wind, solar and tidal. In WWII new refineries were built and up and running in less than sixth months. Declare this job crises and opoor economy and high fuel prices a true national security issue, invoke national security and complete this simple common sense plan I propose.
http://www.reformation.org/energy-non-crisis.html
If you believe that there is a world wide shortage of oil or a shortage in the USA you have been mindkontrolled by a manipulated media which fed you lies upon lies for all your life. Wake up and do the research. Any global warming comes due to natural earth/sun cycles every so many years. Top experts actually now expect a global cooling cycle starting in about 4-5 years. If you believe all this green stuff and environmental nature conservancy stuff you are believing false science and lies spread to destroy this country and make you a serf on the global plantation. Wake up now before it is too late. All this green stuff and global warming and peak oil BS is bought and paid for by the oil cartels, wall street, the intl merchant banks (all elites that want you as a serf). It is all propoganda and none of it is true, none.
