Just got my new dogtra NCP 602 with a vibrate function, now the question is do I use this as a warning, praise or an attention grabber?

Any other hints or tips would be appreciated I have watched a few video's and read some literature, but still feel free to give advice.

Regards, Tracie

Sorry. I don't use the praise tone. I use my body and voice for praise. Love my new Dogtra collar however.

I use the tone as a remote "hier" command so I don't have to be verbal and can still recall the positioned dog.

Before any advice could be offered we would need to know why you would want a E Collar

Are you involved in a sport or have you issues with behaviour with one or all of your dogs!

both really but mainly a barking issue at the moment

Which sport and has your trainer any xperience with a E Collar for barking the E Collar is not effective you should use a bark collar which will be more consistent than a opereated E Collar

i cant use a bark collar as it is triggered by the other dogs sonic dose not work  spray is useless so i have been told that an e collar s the best bet. it is the last resort

as far as sport goes i train my own dogs schutzhund agility obedience pp etc a little bit of everything really but not competitive just fun

i have used correction collars before but not with this vibrate thingy .

you are ill advised a bark collar is triggered by the vibration of the dogs voice box through the central transmitter between the e points, it cannot be activated by any other dog than the one wearing it, if you try to stop a barking with manual operation what happens when you are not there, the dog barks and is not corrected ,so the previous punishment that the dog has received is negated ,and is then cruel to continue .

Dog training is about fairness and consistency without both of those it is not effective.

reason-

can you tell me what bark collar you use as i cant find one that is not triggered off by the other dogs (trust me i have tried) and i have even spoken to the manufacturers regarding this matter.

as far as consistency goes i am with my dogs with the remote around my neck 90% of the time  the other 10% of the time the dogs are inside and don't bark. my dogs sleep indoors not kenneled at all but go out in shifts

i will explain what  i have done so far we have 4 GSD's 2 boys 2 girls  and they take turns being outside

when one of them barks i give them a verbal warning (finish) if they bark again i give a small correction (nick) if they continue after all of the above then i give a 2 second shock this appears to be working well but i was told several different things re the vibrate function and am puzzled as to which option to take praise warning or attention grabber. i can see how all those options might work  but what i wanted to know was which on is of most use.

i don't want to stop my dogs from barking all together as that would be unfair it is just the barking for little or no reason that i want to stop.

thanks for your help so far please be assured that i am not doing this lightheartedly or as a shortcut this is a last resort.

thanks again
