I am looking for some information. I have a chance to purchase a female puppy but the owner said she was the only female in a litter of 6 males. She said that this puppy may not reproduce because of being the sole female in the litter.
Anyone out there have a female pup that reproduced but was the only female in the litter?
I am curious and anxious to hear if this is true.
Thanks

It sounds like another old wives tale to me.

My pup is a male from a litter of 7 males and one female.
I have never heard of that issue.

I don't know where she got this information. I hoping someone out here has actually bred a female from this situation that can debunk this theory.
Pharaoh, did that single female conceive a litter that you know of?

Tigermouse hit the nail on the head. That IS a load of crap LOL I also would look into getting a pup from another breeder. You would be better off with a breeder who has a lot more knowledge :-)
My old chihuahua was the only pup in her litter and produced 2 litters of 5 pups both times I bred her. Good Luck!

New one on me? I think the male determines sex right? Good stud dog I wish to have males in my litters with that ratio!
The only thing I have heard is if the mother of a female puppy has big litters usually the female offspring will have the same and be productive breeders themselves...dont even know if that is true sounds more reasonable!

Why put down the breeder. She's only looking out for her customers. She's the one that wants to sell her to a pet home only because of this fable true or not.
I've still not heard from anyone who has bred a single female from a litter yet. Maybe that person will write soon.
Thanks for your input though.
