What exactly are they? The only thing I've been able to find that seems to be a legit explaination to it is this- http://www.fieldworthy.com/subpage6.html
Is that what it means when I see BHP by a shepherds name, or are they something different?

I believe it's the equivalent of a schutzhund title in Denmark.
BHP1=SchH1, etc.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
