Lawman, I see you're still looking for pups with black skin in the ears (and everywhere else skin shows on a puppy). If anyone reading this has a black puppy with black skin (no pink or grey in the ears or anywhere else) that's what he's looking for. He asks for close up photos of the inside of the pup's ears and if there's any pink/grey skin, he tells you the pup doesn't have good pigment. I explained to him that pigment develops over time and it's not unusual for a 7 week old pup with good pigment to have pink/grey in the ears, but he doesn't believe this and says the skin should be black by 7 weeks (or even younger) or the pigment isn't good.
Does anybody have a young pup with black ear leather? Maybe Lawman is right and there are some pups born with black skin everywhere. I haven't seen one, so would love to know if anyone reading this has such a pup.
Regards,
Diane Seaman
Edited to add: To the original poster, Bomber is a wonderful looking dog! Great new photos and the litter looks super as well.

Puppies have pink/light leather in the ears - it gets darker as they age. Good luck finding one with black leather in the ears - probably something wrong with it if it does have :)

> I sobbed briefly when obseving the picture of "Bomber". My former PSD partner name: "Kanto Vom Wolfsgehege" now deceased, was a spitting image of "Bomber"! He is credited with saving my life (2) times in the line of duty and had multiple captures during his working career. He commanded respect whenever, wherever we went. On several occasions his intimidating appearance was enough to quell several disturbances.
> Kanto was the third solid black German Shepherd I was privilaged to work the streets with. My other (2) partners being K-9 "Lucifer" and K-9 "Dago", they too were outstanding PSD partners who also accumilated several captures also.
> I love solid blacks

imo, pigment in puppies do not show until they are older. For example if you track dalmation puppies, they are not born with spots but develop them as they get older. The only way to really track is to target the pigment gene and run a sequence, but that would take alot of money. So imo science would have to intervene here Lawman, and I agree with Diane at this point in time.
Always,
Cee
