What do you use to deworm your puppies with? I have a litter that is two weeks old now and will worm them this week. Last time I asked my vet for wormer, he gave me a tube of Panacur, the paste kind for horses, and told me each quarter of a turn of the ring will do ten pounds. I used it, no worms in the puppies, but I also never saw any roundworms in their stools after deworming them, like I have in the past when using Nemex. I can easily get Safegard paste for horses, which my vet says is the same thing, and I've seen many on here discus using Safegard to deworm puppies/dogs. Is this the kind of Safegard you use? Or is there another form? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi friend,

I always deworm my dogs , of any age - puppies or grown ups - with the oldest mettod available. It is just to give the dog milk with good deal of sugar and after 5 minutes musturd oil - 1/2 to 3 tea spoonful, which differs age-wise.

And trust me it never fails and the safest way to get the things in order.

I believe Strongid-T is the safest and best wormer for pups and adults, most pups and dogs like it., and you don't have to get the expensive kind from the Vet, specially if you have more the 2 dogs, you can order it as ageneric type I get it  from Jeffers pet supplies or UPCO, there are others who carries it like Revival etc.

I normally use Panacur however I was wondering at what ages you worm and the dosage for the Strongid-T.  Thanks a bunch.

Okay...but do you get Safegard for dogs? Does it come that way? And if so, where can I get it? If not, what do you use? My nearest farm store has it dosed in paste for horses, and in white liquid for goats and sheep. They only have a powder for dogs, which is very expensive.

I have heard  people using the horse wormer  and it is supposed to be very inexspensive .  I also wondered myself what the dosage would be .

I used Pyran 50 last but I don't think it works as well as Strongit ,Panacur or nemex .

Rocking...... I use the following product: http://www.agri-med.com/site/255063/product/SFEGRD1 - it's a white liquid dosed at 1cc per 5 lbs example: 73 lb dog would get 15 cc for 3 consecutive days.    This bottle cost $99.00 + shipping and will last me a year usually end up throwing some out.  We have a tractor supply and they carry this exact product for about $135 locally here. Your best off placing an order, online. We always order our dewormer online, its easiest and cheapest even with shipping.   Pia....... Pyran 50 - is okay but, no extremely effective for whatever reason. Several friend have used this product and still puppies tested positive to one or more parasites. If I were to use this I would probably use it at 4 or 6 weeks and make sure I got at least one deworming in with Safegaurd or Panacur.
