Dawn G. Bonome

Since Herr Orschler has resigned from the SV, and  the Von Batu Kennel is no more, what happens to the dogs with the breedings of Von Batu? Who owns them now?

Dawn, why would the Batu kennel no longer exist? Under the S.V. rules, that kennel name is protected as long as Herr Orschler is alive, so I do not think it will disappear any time soon.

Herr Orschler has a longtime presence in the sport, and his kennel has produced some fine dogs. I would think that surely his family will continue the kennel name. Am I missing some recent and important news?

Regards,

Bob-O

Bob,

Mr. Orschler resigned as Vice President of the SV back in November. At the same time, he cancelled his SV membership, effective as soon as possible. I am not sure that he was able to leave as of January, since the SV has a 3 month advance notification rule. That means you have to have your notification in by September 30 of each year. But under certain circumstances, they might grant him his wish. All dogs with his kennel name who are owned by other people are unaffected. The ones in his possession have to be transferred to a member of a FCI-recognized organization within 6 months. Otherwise, they loose their breed survey status. There will be no more litters "von Batu", since a breeder has to be a member. He could have signed over his kennel name to a family member. But I doubt that this happened.

Chris,

Thank you for the explanation. I heard that he had resigned, but I thought it had to do with retirement more than anything else. That is certainly big news, and not necessarily good news. I think you will admit that it does seem quite strange, but unless Herr Orschler is willing to explain why he did what he did, then we must all accept and respect his decision at face value.

Best Regards,

Hi all!

Hi Bob-O! You said: "That is certainly big news, and not necessarily good news..."

You're right! IT IS bad news! And Herr Orschler is not the only one throwing in the towel. Willibald Josef Gruber, wellknown SV-Judge and owner of the "vom Schloss Runding"-kennel has also turned in his membership card after 32 years and resigned as an SV-judge.

Looks like people are abandoning a sinking ship. No, just kiddin'. It is far more serious than that. It proves people do not agree with what is being ruled by the very few. The SV doesn't prove to be applying democratic skills, so if you have something of importance to tell them, and they don't want to listen, nothing else you can do than retreat to make a statement, wouldn't you agree? Now if SV-judges with decades of experience have no influence whatsoever on the Vorstand anymore, what do YOU think is happening? And what big shot will be the next?

To me it very much looks like we've got ourselves a dictator in the house.

Best regards,

Jantie

So what's the skinny on these well-respected people not just turning in their SV judge's  licenses, but actually resigning from the general membership? I feel like an ostrich just pulling my head out of the sand.

Yes, I, too would certainly like to know what's going on!

We may just have to accept his explanation of "personal reasons" and allow the man some privacy. Nobody on the German boards knows anything, either. Or isn't talking, at any rate.

No "personal reasons" Aqua, oh no! Reasons of importance, concerning the overall attitide, and actions, and future of the SV.

In the mail that covered the whole world by now, as I must assume, you will find:

I just quote the reason why Dr. Gruber OFFERED his dismissal:  "Aufgrund unterschiedlicher Anschauungen und Gegebenheiten in Bezug auf Hauptverein und Hauptgeschäftsstelle des SV"

He had been searching for explanations for quite a while, and had spoken intensively with the management.

So he wanted to talk!  Instead they "flunked" him. And let him know by telephone!
End of quote.

As my time is limited, I leave it to the other users to translate.

Thanks for posting portions of the Grube letter, Jantie. Do you have similar infos about Orschler's resignation?
