There is a facility in Houston called Man's Best Friend. I would like opinions and experiences with them as trainers/evaluators. I am considering taking Mischa down there for evaluation.

I have a cousin that bought a male pitbull (Rage) from Man's Best Friend. Rage took his protection job very serious. His training was superb. In fact, I started to buy a female pitbull from them. Now this all took place in the 1990's.

My boyfriend used to work at a Mans Best Friend in DFW area.  He has told me horror stories of abuse and neglect at their facilities.  I wouldn't recommend them,  and I never did even before I met my boyfriend and heard his stories.

Ugg... Shandra - run from MBF.

I have a friend in Houston that could give a good recommendation. She truly trains positive (literally an occasional raised voice) which is a little TOO all positive for me, but knows lots of good trainers. She had a GSD that was a certified SAR dog until last year when she passed, and authored a book on tracking.

PM me if you would like the recommendation (so I don't forget!) and I'll email and ask her. Are you looking for private lessons, board and train or  ???

If ya like "work em and jerk em" MBF is for you.  If not, go somewhere else.

I have one little bitch who was imported after being trained at their facility.  Oh, what a nightmare.  Because I know the previous owners of the bitch and I know that no abuse took place in their home.  I have to conclude that someone at MBF's NRH facility abused this dog.

So, they sent the bitch all the way to me in Ireland...And I'm to do what with her?

Yeah, I'd definitely run the other way.  same with Bark Busters.

My Boyfriend worked at the NRH (north richland hills) facility for a week before he quit due to how they handled the dogs.

Thanks for the input. I had remembered reading something about MBF but couldnt recall what. The last thing she needs is trauma/drama.

I know someone who was raped in her home while the dog sat there and watched the very day she brought it home from MBF supposedly fully protection trained.

i work at the NRH facility right now. I can personally say that i've never abused a dog and have never seen a dog been abused there either. People are always saying bad things about MBF, and i've always wondered why. I've been working for the company for the past 3 years and love it. Yes, we do get some tough cases in from time to time, but who doesn't.

You guys are welcome to your opinions, but please do not make generalizations over things you guys have heard.

I'm not trying to start a war over this. Just stating my experience.
