Hi,
Does anyone know of a safe flea and tick product for a pregnant bitch? Would this also be safe for a nursing mother? What age could you use any of these products on the puppies?
Thanks.

Safest thing would be cedar bedding. I would NOT suggest you use ANY sort of topical pesticide that you spray or apply along the back during pregnancy and nursing-it's too easy for a puppy to ingest and get SICK. If you've had her on heartworm prevention, then that usually stays in the system to protect her thru pregnancy-I wouldn't advise on giving anything you don't absolutely have to during pregnancy at all. It can mess things up too easily.
I don't usually worry about flea/tick products for puppies under 16wks old since I routinely treat my premises lightly with Sevin granules and give my adults Sentinel. I don't have any issues with fleas/ticks for my dogs, puppies or cats. I'd be very concerned giving a puppy much of anything except a general wormer during the first few months of life.

I would say Talk to your Vet about that they usually give you a save answer for that, because every prgnant female is diffrent.
It does not cost anything if you call you vet and ask.

I use Frontline, with no problems. Was told by my Vet that it was safe enough to use on pregnant or nursing dogs. I have also used the Frontline Spray on puppies as young as 4 weeks. Norma
