I bought some Ivomec from a friend a while back. I am about to run out and need to know where to find the cattle (?) injection that people give to dogs orally? Can I buy this easily or will my vet have to get it for me? I don't need a huge amount. It's just so much more cost effective over Heartgard or Interceptor. Thanks in advance!

You should be able to get at any feed store, something like a Tractor Supply....I don't know what you have in your area, but it's very common, so any place that sells cattle supplies, meds, feed, etc, should have it. You may have to ask for it....a lot of place keep it behind the counter as people tend to steal it.

Yes, you can get it like at TSC or other places like it. I found it's around $40 a bottle. But hey at least it last a long time and you don't have to pay the money for the cubes! I'm going to be talking with my vet about it in the next week or so and pick some up my self after they let me know how much I should give each dog etc. Your vet might know where you can find it too. I wouldn't get it from them though, they would be charging a lot more than any other place!

Yes the feedstores sale it BUT YOU CAN NOT TELL THEM THAT YOU GOING TO USE IT ON DOGS. If you tell them that you getting it for the dogs THEY CAN NOT SALE IT TO YOU. Thats the law it's not that they don't want to sell it to you. well at least here in Fl. I don't know if every state has that law.
It is given Once a month oraly and by weight.

A lot of the times you can also get the generic forms...which are a little cheaper...Tractor Supply probably carries these...I do know that a lot of the feed stores carry it...

I went to TSC(tractor supply)in Michigan here and told them I need it for my dog's and they had no problem selling it to me. They actually gave me helpful instructions, either though I still consulted my vet to get the proper dosage.

KV Vet Supply also sells it really cheap.
I also bought it in the past from TSC, and they wouldn't answer my questions about dosage either. The young girl behind the counter even had the nerve to tell me "well I use it on my dogs but it would be against the law for me to tell you how to use it." LOL..... Luckily there are forums like this where we can share info and some of us have "cool" vets who don't insist we bring our dog in for a simple dosage question :)
