I breed my black/Red female to a dark/Gray Sable. All the pups were black sables with Red . I agree with jdh that breeding good pigment to good pigment increases chance pups will have good pigment. All breeding are different and it's a toss of the dice on the first time breeding, after that you should have a good ideal what the breeding match will produce. My current sable keep getting darker for 3-4 years before reaching current color. I have a short video of her at six years of age doing her first bitework...She was brought up trained in trailing and air scenting plus agility(obedience too of course).
