I have an import I need to register with AKC. I have the pink papers, but need the Bescheinigung. I am not the importer of the dog, but am the second US owner. How do I get in contact with the SV to get it? What all do I need to do? Can anyone who has done this before walk me through it? Thanks so much!

rockingx, you probably will have to have the first buyer (or importer) that acquired the dog from the original german kennel get the Berch. from the SV and then they may have to register the dog with the AKC and handle the transfer to you. But you can call Sabine at the SV. She speaks English and is a great person to ask questions to. And you will have to get info from the AKC on this too. Usually the AKC wants the Berch,. and some photos of the dog taken as they specify. This transfering and registration could be somewhat complex and time consuming.

Call or e-mail Sabine at SV - probably you will have to send her the pink papers proving you are the current owner, and then pay for the Beishenegung to be processed and sent to you. I think if you have proof of current ownership, and ownership transfer (pink papers properly signed by all owners) it shouldn't be a problem.

Sabine's email akc@schaeferhunde.de
Hey Molly, can't she just send in the AKC foreign dog registration application the SV and list herself as the second USA owner?
You should download the AKC Foreign Dog registration application from www.akc.org, it has detailed instructions on what to do.
I have step by step instructions on my website on how to get the Beschinigung and how to get a dog from the SV registered with the AKC if you are the first USA owner. Go down to numbers 7 and 8:
http://www.worthykennels.com/Internetdogbuying.html
I have not had to AKC register a dog for whom I was not the first USA owner...at least on paperwork.
If the previous USA owner did not sign the papers, I would just list myself as the first USA owner.
Good luck, Veronica

I just got my SV Bescheinigungs back in the mail yesterday...actually I had to get 2 of them done at the same time...Sabine said all I needed to do was to send a certified copy of the SV pedigree/registration to her...with a request for what I wanted...and I sent her my credit card number...I think it was like $16.00 or $17.00 for each plus shipping back to me...I would either call or e-mail Sabine and ask her exactly what you need or are trying to do...she is of great help and will answer you quickly....

I'm sure you need a Besheinegung to register a dog with AKC. I believe the SV only needs proof of current ownership, and change of ownership (from the person who owned her in Germany) to get one. You can also call or e-mail AKC and ask them. There is a foreign registration document on AKC.org that explains the steps to register an imported dog with AKC.
