I have been trying to find a some place to take my 16 week old GSD to be evaluated for Schutzhund and to see about the possibility of enrolling in classes. I found one place in Spring Green WI that people speak very highly of, but that is about two hours away from my home, south of Whitewater WI. I found a web site for a training facility in Harvard ILThat is only about 30 minutes from my home, called TriStar and sent an e-mail, but have not received a reply. Does anybody know anything about the TriStar facility or program? Would you recommend it? Or, does anyone know of any other facilities or trainers in that norther IL southern WI area that you would recommend?

I would HIGHLY recommend Tristar. I personally didn't have much contact with Dave or Kathy, I worked mostly with Steve. He is amazing. Be prepared, because he is very very blunt and to the point. I enjoy that, however if you're going to get your feelings hurt you probably won't. If your dog has potential he will see it and does an excellent job. He did foundation training on both of my females. One has great potential and the other was a complete piece of shit for the sport and he same as told me that. He knows his dogs and the sport very well and will steer you in the right direction. They are very busy and can be hard to contact at first.

I would definately recommend Tristar for the evaluation of your young dog. All three of the individuals you would deal with at this location are very knowledgable, and have many years of experience. You can also check the link out for their Sch club: http://www.statelineworkingdogs.com. Hope this helps.

Where is Steve Beal training nowadays? He's excellent, if you want to go the club route, I'd highly recommend him.
If you are interested in group classes, I work for this place: www.tops-k9.com. In fact, I have a beginner class starting 6/17.

Steve Miller, Steve House, Bill Kulla... all good dog trainers. I work with Miller any chance I get. :) He is extremely good with novices. We had him out to our club for about a week awhile back, saw huge progress with dogs at every level. would that I lived only 2 hrs. from Spring Green!
