Does anyone know how long the Canadian Kennel Club takes to register an import that was sold from Canada into the US?
I have to wait for paperwork to come back from them because the dog was registered to the seller who lived in Canada but had previously been in the US and registered with the AKC. As stupid as it sounds to me I had to have the dog registered with the Canadian Kennel Club first before AKC would complete the transfer in my name even though the dog was already registered and DNA'd with them prior. What a pain in the ARS! lol

Yes CKC here in Canada slow slow slow, 4 to 6 months to get reg back. no ability to do anything on computer all snail mail? makes you wonder what they do with all the fees they collect, They still offer no service for DNA testing and they are registering any kind of mixed breed imaginable like as long as you have the huge fee for registering a new breed you can throw any varieties together (how exotic) and call it purebred up here. they do very little educating to aid in health or training and no where near enough access to events for titles. all of the shows in our area are local clubs or charity run. they charge an annual member fee so not only do you pay for the dog but a breeder must be a member of the CKC to register pups. I was told by a sport dog breeder of 30+ years that after 25 yrs in good standing they will sometimes waive that members annual fee's,- how gracious of them> best of luck N
Oh yes and they insist dogs must have been imported by a Canadian citizen which makes me wonder if they are affiliated with the tax dept.
